Fissure or pile???

Postby Cliff2005 » 13 Dec 2015, 13:48

Hey all,

Had what I took to be a fissure for the best part of a year now. No real pain but a slight paper cut feeling when I pass a BM.

I had an investigate with a mirror I can see two small tears on what look like purplish lumps just inside the anus.

If they are a pile that is tearing and bleeding does this affect my course of treatment at all? I'm on dulcoease which is stopping the bleeding but not healing it.

Would I be better going for something like anusol? And is there anything you can cover over the fissures to stop the stool rubbing past them a paste or something??? (if that makes sense)

Difficult to know, Cliff2005. Much better if you see a CRS and get an opinion on what's going on.

Good luck! Let us know! :smilyhug:

I bit the bullett. After too many months of having bleeding movements I phoned my GP. After several attempts to try and get an appointment I got the call back from GP. Had a quick chat on the phone and although he still wouldn't see me he has referred me to the hospital for an exam. Would have preferred a quick check and a prescription cream before moving onto this stage but at least a specialist will see me rather than trying to treat myself. Not looking forward to the exam but whatever I need to do. Will keep you posted!

The exam for me wasn't too bad. He just had me spread my butt apart and he had some kind of light he was shining in. He was able to locate them with the light only took like 30 seconds. The docs know what they are looking for so it doesn't take long.

I thought i had hemorrhoids too but he seen the 'cuts'. The did prescribe me a cream but also told me a warm bath in Epsom salts is very good too. Maybe give that a try.
