Botox

Postby Mypoorbutt » 30 Apr 2016, 02:36

Hi guys looking for some advice please, has anyone had a Botox that has worked.
Went to see the private CRS and he was really great explained things really well....but has still recommended Botox first.
He has done the Botox well over 200 times and only had around 20 people go on to have LIS
Apparently my fissure is quite long so the cut would have to be long and as I have IBD my BMs are more than often liquid so he feels my risk of Incontinence is quite high.
He did agree to give me LIS after he has tried the Botox and if my pain doesn't decrease after the 3/4 week mark will put me on his urgent NHS list as he has recommended the Botox when I wanted LIS. He also said the if the Botox could get the healing started there is a possibility the cut from the LIS could be shorter
So basically asking has anyone ever has any success with Botox. As I need to phone him by tomorrow (he has given me his mobile number) to make the choice.
Please help as I'm SO confused again
Thanks guys

Yes. Botox gave me my life back!

Suffered for months, and within a week after botox I felt improvements. A few months later the fissure was healed.

Been healed for 2.5 years now. Wow times flies...
- Fissure developed in Jan '13
- Started rectogesic in Feb '13 and diltiazem Apr '13.
- Got botox Jun '13
- Healed by Okt '13, although I still had some irritation for about a year.
- New fissure April '22, healed June 2022
- New fissure 24. December 2023

Thanks so much JHH that's reassuring...you see so many bad Botox experiences that I was just dreading it, it's good to know it can actually work for some...
Is there anything you did that you thought helped you?
Thanx again

Your welcome.

Yes, I made sure to keep my BM's soft, and I squat. You can click on my profile and read my previous posts. I have written in length about it in the "success stories" section.

Good luck!

My CRS wants to try Botox too at the end of this month if my AF hasn't healed by itself. I too had only heard people say it didn't work. Good to hear it was so helpful for you, JHH.

Hello MPB! I wondered what had happened with you!

As we've discussed before, I had botox but then went on to have LIS because it didn't work for me. But I did feel that I was glad to have tried botox. The sphincterotomy is a big step to take if there's something else that might work for you.

I'll be keeping everything crossed that it works for you. BB x

Hi BB,
Well I have my appointment for my pre op on the 25th didn't know I would need a pre op for Botox but hey ho...so am assuming it won't be too long after.
Yes my surgeon did say it was a big first step especially with my other issues lol....and apparently I'm the first women he has seen that didn't want to give Botox a try I had to be more or less talked into it...he has promised to be "extra" gentle lol as I said I was very worried as I have read quite a few cases where Botox made pain worse...he said that has never happened with him so fingers crossed
Thanx MPB x

Hi MPB
Yes I had a pre op for botox. I was in such pain they couldn't examine me or anything so it had to be a general anaesthetic. Good luck with it all. If there's a chance of botox working it's definitely worth trying first, especially for women.
Sending healing vibes. Please keep me posted.

Hi Mypoorbutt,

I had my botox injection today. This evening I am in quite a bit of pain (but I also had a colonoscopy so I think it is more due to that than the injection). I'll keep you posted as to how things go.

Hope you are healing nicely!
