Long Term Chronic Fissure?

Postby nicole321 » 20 Jun 2016, 15:31

I have had a chronic anal fissure since Feb 2015. I even had an LIS scheduled but my fissure looked like it was almost healed so I cancelled it. I can go 2-4 weeks of having a healed fissure, but the slightest change in my diet or routine will re-tear it. It often heals in a few days now instead of being in constant pain like I was the first year of fissure life.
Does anyone have experience in how long it takes to completely heal the tissue? I feel so much better now than a year ago, but I want to know if I am going to be managing this cycle my whole life or if you can really heal.

My routine:
stool softener after breakfast
sitz baths afterward
Lots of water all day
High fiber intake through food
probiotic at night
No wheat, dairy, coffee, and minimal grains in general.

Thanks for any advice!

I'm in the same boat, wondering if LIS will prevent re-tearing, but I'm reading LIS just helps the fissure, then re-tears may just heal faster.

I'm reading on other posts it can take years to regain the elasticity, so Miralax may be your best friend for a while.
