Anal canal Stenosis

Postby seeana » 20 Mar 2012, 22:37

Hi everyone I am due to have an op in April ...a repair for Anal Canal Stenosis I hope it is not to painful afterwards.
The trouble is that I am having a lot of pain in my lower back and because if I dont take laxitives I get constipated very easily,if that happens it affects my Sciatic nerve... oh boy its painful.
After that op I then have to have an op on my back (see the specialist next week after my MIR scan)at the moment I am on long acting oxycontin 20mg twice a day to keep the pain under control but I am getting a bit of breakthough pain, I hate that as they are very addictive and dont want to up the dosage anymore.
I am really worrying about all this and I just wondered if one of you lovely people has had this operation, Image I hate getting older.
Sincerely Seeana.

Hi seeana,
Is it anoplasty that you are having?
if you go to the portal section (see at top next to 'home') then use the search engine at the bottom left, you can find things more easily on this board.
I did a quick search and found someone on the board who had anoplasty, 'callmecrazy'. This was a year ago, so you could PM her and see how she's doing.
Also there is another af group in yahoo.
I did a quick search there and found this person who also has anal stenosis;

I've not had the procedure myself. I believe advancement flap surgery is similar, and you could look at the recovery info here for people who have had that.
I know what you mean by getting older. It's like, one day you are fine and the next, wtf? I find though that I always discover a way to cope pretty well with whatever new ailments crop up. This af is taking longer though than other issues I've had! Image .
But I will figure it out sooner or later! :D
Anyways, welcome!!
Hope we can help you through this!

Hi Tanya, you have given me plenty to look up and I am sure they will help me.
I am lucky I only had to wait a month for this surgery as I live a couple of hours from Melbourne in Australia.
I think the waiting list in the city's is much longer.
I am not sure if it is anoplasty...all it says is repair of anal canal stenosis.
I really do appreciate the time you have taken to help me bless your heart.
Will be in touch.
sincerely Joan.

Anal canal Stenosis

Postby seeana » 09 Apr 2012, 12:30

Well I had my op.... pain is controlled with 2 panadine fort and 2 Endone on top of my long acting Oxycontin.
Things are not too bad until I try bear down in the toilet its like pouring iodine onto an open wound.
I expected this ...have to take 4 senna cot tablets to help pass the stools on doctors orders Image
Will keep you updated. Image

Joan, I'm so sorry you are suffering so.
Have you tried miralax as a stool softener. I would think you would not want to push or strain at all when having a BM.
Hope things improve for you quickly!

My last ditch dianosis was flap surgery. No thanks. No more surgery for me. After years of movicol depleting my nutrients am now having good success with neolife all natural fibre and have today started dmso mixed with aloe and water to soften the scar tissue from first op and multiple stretches. Also from fissure requiring a seton stirch. Wish me luck!

How did the DMSO work for you? I am considering it to treat scar tissue as well. But how do you even apply it down there?
