I guess you may have to watch what you eat for a few more weeks but at least there are no spasms so the fissure can heal totally then you can probably go back to eating what you choose

Not sure what is triggering the symptoms of all of a sudden I feel the burning and its mild then goes away. I notice it after peeing after a BM and sometimes after eating. Maybe its the fact I am using the muscles. My CRS said all the muscles down there are interconnected so I am thinking thats what is still causing discomfort. Its a 1 to 2 discomfort level so Im not going to sweat that at this point

I was told that the spasms would decrease after LIS usually around 30 days. Mine have decreased which is good. Everyone is different. Some may see improvement early others may not. I just continue to take bath after BM drink at least 72 oz water a day. Fiber increase at least 20 g a day. I have not had to take any pain meds in over 2 weeks . They can cause constipation which I must avoid as well as certain foods. I must say 28 days post op having sporadic spasms and not to bad so I feel the worst is now behind me. I know that wfor works for me may not work for others. I find the nifedipine ointment helpful for me. Taking walks also helps as well. Again I am only posting where I am and what works. Good luck to those who have had LIS

Hi Jim, glad your feeling better, it's good to know that spasms do continue for a while after LIS....my GP told me yesterday that it could take 6 weeks to calm down so I feel slightly more optimistic.
Hope your recovery continues

Hi MPB. Yes my CRS said it takes awhile. I can say that my BM have been soft and have had one everyday this week with little discomfort. The spasms are maybe a 3 at its worst and last maybe an hour and are now sporadic. I just grin and bear it and it passes

My spasms with a normal BM aren't too bad about a 5 last all day though....it's when my IBD plays up and I go loads that it's awful pain at a ten for like 24 hours...I was hoping that would stop straight away like it did with the Botox but obviously not.

Well today was 28 days post op and here is how my day went. 5:30 am had a BM small fairly soft hardly any discomfort. 30 min later the burning and stinging starts. Took sitz bath relieved some. Applied nifidepine ointment. Basically mild burning pain around a 3 lasting untill 11am. Git bold drank 1 cup of coffee at noon begining work for 12 hours. 40 min later had another BM. ( caffeine usually promotes one ) and again 30 min later the burning and stinging begin and lasted 4 hours. I would give it a 3 pain level. Now 5pm and fairly calm so the issue continues. No pain meds taken just 2 applications of ointment and toughed it out. Have 7 hours left of work. Hopefully I can sail thru. Ugggg
