Oh Im sorry yes I no longer have the fissure pain, my is more muscular which may be similar to yours. Mine is not as bad over night, but upon waking it builds throughout the day, tightness and burning, charleyhorse feeling higher up closer to tailbone. Botox seemed to help the spasms but still have some of this going on still.Thought it was hems or the fissure not being healed long enough, but this is 7 months now and Dr says he cannot see fissure anymore. So are you making progress are you able to sit and function? What were your symptoms?

I am able to sit and function., I have pain when I sit so when it's too much I just stand. I used to have pain with bowel movements and pain afterwards but I don't any longer. I also used to feel a dull feeling around the Anus, don't have that either and then a scratchy itchy sensation around the anus, don't have that anymore.

I was told that my pain was muscular too but then when all the muscles were relaxed the doctors told me that my pain wS no longer coming from the muscles, it was coming from the nervous system going haywired. Basically my brain is stuck in the cycle of pain.

i can understand this as I too feel that it is tough to break, I am trying to figure this out as well. Seems as though the pain triggers anxiety /nerves so when you can't get ahead of the pain the muscles contract and triggers the nerves even when the muscles stop. I suppose this area has so many nerve endings. maybe Acupuncture, or other integrative holistic therapies have you tried? I read that a women who had this went to a CRS who prescribed a low dose of 500 mg methoprobomol and 3 baby aspirin a day and in 3 weeks she was 90 percent better and in 4 weeks was cured she suffered for a year. She was told hers was nerve and muscle related and she went to see tons o PT and specialits. I do not like to take medication but wondered if you have tried anything that helps. So far tylenol and advil don't cut it. I surely hope and pray this will be cured for you as well.

I have tried 2 nerve medications (can't remember the name at the moment) but it did not help with pain so I was taken off it.

My pain started around the rectum and the nerve pain has progress to my thighs and just feel an overall sensitivity to pain. I know that I have a sensitive nervous system, the issue is that it is hard to turn the dial down. I have tried acupuncture, meditation, and it did nothing.

I hope you pain is just muscle related.. but don't wait too long to get an evaluation.

Hi Alyssa, FYI spoke to a specialist in California today and he did say that sometimes with fissure/Hemmrhoids dysfunction tightness and spasm pain can occur in the levator muscles. Can take a while to clear up... did you have a fissure or hemmrhoids?

I was told I did but I don't really know if I actually did have one. I felt as though I had tiny hairlike cuts around the anus.. but those are the similar symptoms of pelvic floor dysfunction.

I was told I had a fissure but no doctor only the first I seen saw one.. yes it's the levator ani muscles; and mine were injected with Botox and it resolved those symptoms. I no longer have the scratchy irritation around the anus or paper cut sensation. It's crazy how pelvic floor dysfunction can mimic other illnesses.
