I am not saying that that is what your surgeon actually did, but just what my surgeon meant by the opposite side. It would certainly explain all of your pain being on the same side, but to be completely sure, you should ask your own surgeon.

It's been two and a half years since the op, so my memory can't be trusted completely, but if I recall correctly, I had pain of about 5 (on a scale of 1 - 10) for about a week, and then it tapered off gradually until I was fully without pain by about the end of the third week.

I took Percocet on Day 1 and 2, if I recall correctly, but didn't need them after that. Everyone is different though, and I'm sure that location of the fissure makes a very big difference to how quickly people heal.

Yes, I'm pain free now, except for some burning if I have diarrhea, which thankfully, is rare. Maybe burning after diarrhea is normal though, even for people without fissures?

Is it normal to still have bleeding from the site? I didn't have much after a BM, but when I woke up this morning I had some so I'm guessing it's from the incision site. Post op directions say through 2 gauze pads to call; it's not that much but it wasn't just a tiny bit either..
On the plus side I think the pain is getting a bit better, 6 days post op
