Mypoorbutt what did you have done to your fissure during botox? Mojo that's fine I can have it done at the public hospital for free by a general surgeon who does alsorts i.e. ingrown toenails moles an stuff like that but i really want to see a specialist who deals with nothing but behinds that why he/she would have a lot of experience with fissures I'm to scared to just let anyone do it if you know what I mean. I'm seeing my doctor on Monday so I will grill him an see what's the best option I'd love it if some how he could get me in with a crs for free

I had a fissurectomy which is where they clean up the edges of the fissure removing any scar tissue so it can heal easier

Missy yeah would think it best u see a specialist.

Day 6 post op and bit worried as woke up last night with ghastly pain in arse and fresh blood on sanitary towel. Took painkiller I'd over optimistically thought I wouldn't need anymore and went back to zzz. This morning BM was ouchy even tho it was soft after bean and fish salad for dinner. There was more fresh blood than usual. My groin glands are swollen on both sides and am feeling a bit fluey. Am due for check up Thursday.

Any reassurances? Maybe I've overdone it as have been active from day 1.

It's probably just the fact you haven't had a rest period Hun. But if you feel poorly you might be better getting it checked sooner. If you feel better then leave it till Thursday
You have been lucky and had no pain to make you feel like you should rest so this is probably your body's way of reminding you that you just had surgery and even if your in less pain than before you should still take things easy for a week x

Don't want to freak you out mojo but keep an eye on your symptoms could be an infection I've just come off antibiotics for mastitis an it started with pain then flu like symptoms then high temp but see what your doctor says fingers crossed its all just normal an apart of the healing process your doing really well though an really fast stay positive. An yea i won't get lis unless it's by someone who knows there stuff do you or mypoorbutt know how many lis a surgeon should of done before they are considered experienced? And questions I should ask to work out if they are right for the job an really at it?

No idea missy. Reckon Mypoor much better placed to suggest questions to ask. My brother lives in NZ and boasts about the health care there but the fact you have to pay be operated on by a specialist is very off imo.

Am feeling better after taking paracetamol. Called hosp and they said to go in if temp rises. Trying to take it easy but hardly poss with a rampant toddler on the loose.

Yea tell me about it i have a 3.5 year old boy and a 5week old boy I had mastitis twice in the last 4 weeks two courses of antibiotics an a fissure! I'll breast feed till 6minths so don't think I can get lis till then but i can start putting things in place now. Also the swollen glands you mentioned got my attention too I really hope this passes for you an is just nothing did I ask you where you lived? It seems like everywhere but nz give free bum doctors out for lis but here I really hope I'm wrong but I've been told by 3 people now that this is the case I'm seeing my doctor in a few days I can't wait to clear some things up but at the moment I'm not doing to bad so waiting for my appointment to come should be ok. Keep up the good work an try to rest hun you'll get there.

Hi MM
My first CRS had done about 50 my second had done around 20 a year and the one who did my LIS does around at least 2 a week but before Botox he did around 10 a week. He has a great success rate with Botox.
I would ask what their own success rate is with their patients not the hospital as a whole as there are often at least 4 surgeons and you don't want one who seems like there is a great success rate but it ends up being his colleagues.
Also apart from the GA which shouldn't be a problem there is nothing to stop you having the LIS sooner. I'm assuming that your not taking strong painkillers now and having to deal with pain so after the op shouldn't hurt much more. Obviously if you feel better to wait then that's down to you.
Mojo hope your feeling a bit better, know it's hard but try and rest up a bit for a few days Hun x
