It looks that with all that we already know there is always something new that we discover here on our forum !!! This fact might save some members from undergoing unnecessary procedure !
How I wish that CRSs also read our posts - they would learn more than they could ever find in any book Image

it kinda reminds me of one of my very first posts here about 'poppers'.
typically poppers is like that VCR fluid that comes in that little bottle......it is used for anal sex mostly to virtually make you more loose and take whatever is coming your way without much pain, if any at all.
by whiffing poppers prior to a bm - i am sure this could provide almost the same effect as the cream. i just never tried it.

OMG! Poopers? I never heard of it, but I am glad I live in Las Vegas now - that seems like something I could find easily in this town! After I am healed - I my have to you it for BMs!
I have alot of faith that I will be healed without LIS. I just think I am prone to these and need to keep a good lifestyle and diet. I hope my CRS is right about my hemmies causing the fissures. He seams really confident. Right when I told him I had no spasms, he looked in there and said "Thats why you don't have spasms - your hemmies are making rectal tissue drop into your anal canal, thus causing pressure and fissures." LETS HOPE HE IS NOT A TOTAL QUACK!!!!
Julie - Why did you stop using the nitro after 6 weeks? Were ou healed and then it returned again?

Yes, the bleeding had stopped for a few weeks and the doctor said to use it for 6 weeks if the bleeding stopped. But, a couple of weeks later the bleeding and some pain started up again. So, she just wanted me to use it again for two weeks. It would help and the bleeding stopped again, but it started a couple of weeks later again! A couple of weeks ago I went back on it, but when I went to see her on Monday she told me to stop using it. This time she said it was because I told her the pain wasn't a sharp glass like ripping pain, but more of a sting. So, not to use the nitro unless it's really sharp.
Luckily, the bleeding had stopped again and I'm still fine. But, because of the on again, off again bleeding I have to have the colonoscopy. I bet it's hemorrhoids bleeding, but I guess we'll see. The doctor has no answers for me, so hoping the colonoscopy will be able to help figure out what's bleeding.

DID ANYONE GET DIARRHEA WHEN THEY STARTED NITRO?
Julie -
I am still using mine even though I don't have much pain. It seems when I stop taking something, my fissure rips open again. I am trying to give the scar tissue enough time to heal so it is strong. I have alot of trouble with the outside portion of my scar cracking. I am hoping a few months on the nitro will do the trick, other than that, I am healed most the time.

I used Nitro for 4 months. It healed my fissure 90%..
However, shortly thereafter it came back. Subsequently,
fissurectomy and LIS surgery this week. Nitro gave me a horrible headache(for a short time) but no diarrhea CRS says nitro works 50% of the time in a chronic fissure. My fissure was a year old, but I tried it anyway.
Surgery seemed to be my only hope.
good luck

Jen, I didn't get diarrhea at all with the nitro. But, that may be because I've been on Metamucil and that's supposed to balance things out.

I didn't get it with nitro either. just the major headache and some nausea. also sometimes the ointment would irritate the nerves in the area enough to make me bm though. maybe that's what's happening to you, irritation and thus bm before you're ready.

when i used it,it sometimes gave me the "urge" to go,never diahrea though,i was on the .05% then it was boosted up to the 2%,that stuff was powerful, but after time the headaches got less, like i was getting used to it or something.it really did loosen things up down there,i was told 2times a day,but me being the self appointed dr that i am Image ,decided it wopuld be better if i used it like 5 times a day,i figured the looser,longer..the faster it'd heal! dont know if it worked, but when i went to get more they were like "already"..i told them i'd been using it as chapstik for my lips, they didnt think it was funny though....
