You poor thing. One of the best pieces of advise I received was to be sure to take pain medications because it would help me heal. Though I did not take vicoden beyond the first day, I did take varying amounts of ibuprofen for the first 5 days and still do take it intermittently when I am uncomfortable. Ibuprofen also helps with the inflammation and swelling. I took 2-3 at at time to begin with (400-600mg). Perhaps this would help you.

I'm such a basket case!! If I don't knock it off, I'll be talking to a psychiatrist next!! Image

I will take all of your advise and chill out for the remainder of the weekend and hopefully I'll start to feel a little better.

Kim, I love your voice of reason - thanks!!

definitely don't expect too much too soon nancy! of course your butt's gonna hurt, you just had anal surgery! just lay in bed (or a hot bath) and relax right now.

my dr even said some people take as many as 12 weeks to completely heal. i know it's hard but you need to think of it in terms of "week by week" not "day by day" otherwise you will definitely drive yourself crazy. believe me, i've been there!
as for the wiping, try to pat clean instead of actually wiping. using baby wipes might help also. i take a shower every morning after my bm and that helps keep things clean w/o irritating the area w/ tp.

I too noticed that the wiping is no good right now. Good thing for handheld showerheads.

Hello all. I have been friends with Nancy since 6th grade, and I just wanted you guys to know how great it is that she has you all to talk to. I have been trying to be a good friend through all of this, but I really didn't know what she was going through. You all have been an amazing source of support for her. Once again, thank you so much for helping my friend.

hi nancy,
i hope things are going well.
please don't stress out if you feel good one day and then not one day.
with or without LIS, healing will take a good 6 months and feeling quite back to normal would be like a year time.
these are such baby steps but time does go by fast and pretty soon you'll know it, you are crapping happily!
:-)

Hello all - long time, no talk. I had my 2 week follow up today and I feel hopeful. My CRS said the incision is closed and that the fissure is 98% healed! I would love to believe him when he said that he thinks this did it for me. I'm a bit of a skeptic after the first LIS was unsuccessful. I will, however, try to think positive! He wants to see me again in a month and do a final check of things. In the meantime, I'm not really having any pain during or after bm's. Every once in a while I have a stinging sensation - but that's about it...knock wood! I'm heading to Florida for vacation next Friday, so I hope I continue to feel good, so I can enjoy my time away with my family. We could all use a break from butt!!

And for all of you who are hesitant about LIS - don't be. I'm so glad that I decided to do a 2nd one. And if for some awful reason this thing ends up "rear"ing it's ugly head again, I will go for a third!

But, for now, one day at a time!
