Do I STILL have a fissure?

Postby MirandaYvonne » 22 Jun 2018, 11:17

So I’ve had pain with a bm and for hours after since I was a month postpartum. I’m 5 months now, and I’ve gotten the bleeding to stop and the pain to very much lessen (on good days I have no lingering pain at all, just some initial pain at the bm) so I’m wondering if I still have the fissure. I know I have hemorrhoids still, as I’ve had them the entire time that I’ve had this fissure. I’m currently on hydrocortisone suppositories for them and have been taking Nitroglycerin ointment basically for two months now for the fissure. Shouldn’t it have completely healed now? Is the light pain I’m having now from hemorrhoids instead?

It's hard to tell if you have a fissure or if you have residual pain from irritated tissue. The best thing would be to go back to your doctor and have them take a (gentle) look. Having hemorrhoids and a fissure at the same time is tricky, because hydrocortisone thins out tissues, which can cause a fissure to not stay healed.
8/16-12/16: Fissure due to antibiotics
5/17: Botox to sphincter, fissure healed
9/19: Trigger point injections and pudendal nerve block
11/19: Botox to pelvic floor
8/20: Botox to pelvic floor in new location.
On and off in pelvic physical therapy

I'm trying to figure out the same.

Although I don't have a fissure that I know of, I have a small wound next to my rectum opening from fistulotomy surgery last month. It is still healing.

I also have an external hemorrhoid that has been visible for months as well as I believe I have inflamed internals as well.

My surgeon did not see any sign of fissure.

But I'm having irritation and pain (no blood) after having a bowel movement.

The days I don't have a bm I do not have any pain.

I don't know if my pain is related to my open wound, the inflammation of the hemorrhoids, or something else.

As Patience mentioned it is difficult to tell .
I wish I had answers for all of us here.

i went couple of days ago to get botox, told him i have some other pain on the other side that feels like a tear/scar/fissure too , he looked at it and saw it was an VEIN clot .
was happy to know it wasnt a scar or hemorrhoid. he said if it stays there he can cut it off.

What does the pain feel like? Can you describe it? I. e dull sharp burning

Is it immediately after a bm or a few hors later?

How long does the pain last?

It’s more dull/sore. I have it during the BM though it might not feel so bad, but then a couple hours later it feels much worse. Overall I feel very tender down there all day even on the best days where there’s nearly no pain. The pain usually lasts 6-8 hours.
