PEG: once a day or more?

Postby John667 » 20 Dec 2018, 09:17

I reduced my magnesium citrate intake from 300 mg. to 150 mg. because of side effects, but re-introduced PEG. I was wondering: is it better to take the whole 17 g. once per day or can I take it a little bit with water all day long until the same 17 g. thresold has been reached?

If the goal is to produce softer stool, it seems to me that it would make more sense to use it all day long each time I drink water. But if I do it, I will poop more often, hence more irritation on the fissure.

Any clue?

Is the pain gone? Is the fissure healing?

I have no idea. I have this constant dull ache in my bottom. I think fissure is healed but I feel like there is an ulcer deep inside or something.

Hi what did the doctor(s) suggest as your problem sounds familiar “like an ulcer” is how I’d describe my pain and GP couldn’t see /feel a fissure(I am waiting on referral appointment in February which I’m hoping will reveal more).

Doctor suggested it's sciatica since the pain goes down the limb and to the bum as well and is mostly right sided. Advised a CECT to see what's causing the compression or which nerve. I really just want someone to see inside my bum and tell me what's really the matter! Might get a sigmoidoscopy.

Hi
That’s interesting as back in 2014 my left sided anal pain turned into sciatica into buttock and down leg.had MRI showed some bulging discs but nothing advised except do yoga/Pilates - I did and it improved after about a year. Anal pain also went away (odd flare ups between 2915-2018 ).
Now my left sided anal pain is back ☹️ But no sciatica - I’m waiting on appointment to hopefully see something they didn’t In 2014.
Our issues sound similar. I think nerves get agitated and take a while to settle down .its frustrating and I’ve never had reason for my pain really yet from doctors .

thanks so much. feels good that im not alone but in my case i now also have this, how do i describe it, dull tickling ache that starts after i have taken care of business. this sorta tickling pain irritates my prostate and lower rectal area and migrates between the two constantly. its so weird and frusttrating and the original right sided pain is gone. it honestly feels like proctitis and prostatitis combined. no idea why its happening
