6 weeks after LIS...

Postby patient1 » 25 Dec 2018, 16:58

Hi everyone!

I have been reading your postings for about two months or so. I had a hemorrhoidectomy 3.5 months ago, then I had a Lateral Internal Sphincterotomy (LIS) and skin tag removal 1.5 months ago. Although I've had improvement, I am still suffering and I know that only you guys will understand. The hemorrhoids, anal fissure (AF), and area where the skin tag was removed do not seem to be bothering anymore; however, I am still experiencing a lot of discomfort on my left side, exactly where the LIS was performed, particularly after a BM and it lasts for many hours, sometimes the entire day. I am starting to get concerned about how well the LIS was performed. I read postings where people already feel wonderful after 6 weeks of the LIS, but I still feel some swelling and the area is painful to varying degrees, itchy and burning after every BM.

Has anyone had a LIS before? How long did it take for you guys to feel well?

Much love and support to everyone suffering. Thank you.

Hi there, you can find more information on LIS on this sub-forum: lis-considering-surgery-or-already-had-it-f6.html. Have you followed up with the surgeon about why you're still having pain after BMs? It's a small possibility that it's due to a skin issue and a dermatologist could be helpful. Maybe the nerves have been disturbed by the incision and you need some scar massage to help with that. Take care.
