Hello....My name is Lori and I was just diagnosed a few days ago with 2 anal fissures. This is the worst pain I've ever been in...I've had 2 of my babies naturally, that pain is intense, but when it's over it's over and you have this amazing little baby. This situation feels non-ending, and I'm so discouraged. I asked the surgeon who diagnosed me to give me a note to have a week or two off work while I learn what will work for me and he said no. So I'm going to the regular doctor today to plead for time off work. I'm a hard worker....but this has stopped me in my tracks. How can I teach children when I'm in so much pain. I am in despair at this point. I'm happy to have found this forum for sure and will keep reading to get some ideas of what to do. Thank you!

Hi Lori, maybe you're lucky and only got acute fissures. These should resolve by themselves in a few weeks time, fingers crossed.

Thanks Abu! I hope you are right!! I've done better today now that I've switched to a low fiber diet. But still in pain for hours after each bm. My very kind dr gave me 2 weeks off of work...I hope I'm able to go back.

My doctor gave me a calcium channel blocker cream to use, but it burns so much! Any suggestions on this??? Is there a better place to post such a question?

I suggest to tell him this because there are various other creams to try.

I think you have a nifedipine based cream now and probably he will give you rectogesic as an alternative. It is important to stick to the recommended daily dosage and not forget to apply it as long as your doctor tells you to.
And remember, always keep a strong faith in your body's ability to heal. All you do is lend it a hand to do it quicker but in the end it is the body that heals not the cream or the doctor.
