It was very gradual, and probably took about 4 weeks. I was also left with several skin tags, that became permanent.

Thank you Cez. So far it’s been frustrating but manageable. Last night was the worst pain so far (Day 3) and I think that’s because the shot is wearing off and all the BMs I had. The swelling got worse last night too.

Cha, cha, cha
Did it get worse after every BM? How did you deal with it? I just don’t want to make it worse and I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to help soothe/decrease it?

Yes, the BM's caused them to swell more. I used ice.

Post Op Day 4
Uneventful day. Slept for 4 hours straight last night. Then for 3 more. I’ll take it. I’ve been getting up every night/morning at 3:30 am. Guess the pain wakes me up. Then I take ibuprofen. BM this morning was more like diarrhea so I didn’t do any miralax today. Still did 2 stool softeners because that’s what I was doing before the surgery. Don’t know if I’ll have any more BMs before bedtime. If it’s the same consistency as this morning I’ll drop down to 1 stool softener a day. Maybe. Did my sitz baths and showers and ice packs and heating pad. The swelling is not any better...yet. The skin outside of the swollen side is very tender, raw, and sore. I think I may have lost a stitch but I really don’t know. Ate the same things I’ve been eating. Only thing new I ate was a piece of multigrain bread. Drank 68+ ounces of water. 20 grams of fiber. I’m trying to add more food and fiber slowly. Before surgery I was getting 22-26 grams of fiber every day and sometimes that was too much. My appetite is coming back which is good but also making it hard not to want other kinds of foods that my body is not ready for yet. Pain was fine with ibuprofen. Still the same kind of pain-stinging and sore. Pain is worse around BMs but still better than before surgery. I have no idea if that Exparel has worn off or not. I’m giving it till Monday before I think it’s fully worn off. That’ll be 5 days after my surgery. Tried to lay on my sides today rather than my back. Walked around a bit. I was walking better today than I have been. Still taking it slow.

take it slow and easy. Prayer helps.
You were able to take off from work for a period of time.
.right?

Painful BM this morning. Stool was more formed, is that why it hurt more? There was a lot of stinging and it felt like it did before the surgery except so far no spasms. Is this normal??
