Loose BM causing burning pain

Postby LIGRLinFL » 20 May 2023, 18:52

Day 4 post—LIS-started having BM day 2 post op, using colace, Metamucil and small dose of miralax. Today had very soft, somewhat painless BM this morning then later in day had very loose BM with burning pain after. Wondering if I should cut back on the colace? CRS said take 2 twice daily but that may be too much! Afraid to get constipated. Drinking tons of water, peppermint tea. Fiber intake is up, plus Metamucil twice daily. Just trying to get some relief!

I would make changes in very small increments. I have done that before with other medications, so that if things go in the wrong direction, they'll only do so a little bit.

Thanks! I took my Metamucil for tonight but will hold off on the colace and Miralax and see how it goes. I only had to take one dose of the prescription pain Med 2 days ago, so hoping that will decrease chance of constipation.

You could also ask your doctor which product you should increase or decrease first. And personally, I haven't cut things out completely, but instead, decreased or increased by taking half, quarter, or three-quarter doses, and then made other changes as need be.
