3 months in and losing hope - but hi

Postby DanielK89 » 09 Mar 2026, 19:19

Hi, new here. Been dealing with a fissure for about 3 months now and it's driving me mad. Dr put me on
diltiazem cream a few weeks ago but honestly not seeing much change yet. Sitz baths help a bit but the
pain after BMs is still rough. Anyone else feel like this stage just drags on forever?

Sorry for late response. I hope you've had some relief the past month and a half. I did the sitz baths, a variety of salves (inc. nitroglycerin salve that was prescribed to me at the ER....yes, pain was so bad I wound up in the ER). The best thing I had done was Botox injections, 3 each at 25 units each, under sedation. I highly recommend it. What happens with fissures is that my muscles tried to protect themselves by clamping down, which caused awful cramps. The Botox helps relax those sphincter muscles so they can heal. Once you do that, start with a regimen of psyllium, such as Metamucil, every evening after dinner. Good luck with your healing.
