Tabbs -
Thanks for the kind words! Have you started A/D yet? How many times does the average person get it done to have success? Does your doctor have a good success rate with it? Good Luck and let me know what happens! Image
Cheryl - I thought about talking to someone too. Not recently, because other than this weekend the last 4 months have been great. I even started anxiety meds that did not work for me because I honestly think they were making my anxiety level increase. I have come to the conclusion that my boardie friends are my therapy. Without all of you - I would need some serious help! You all understand me & my butt better than I do at times!

Talk therapy might help but that involves more sitting and driving and more pain. I did see a psychologist to help with post-traumatic stress disorder but it was mostly just working through a work book and I decided prayer was more effective for me.

If I lived close to a comprehensive pelvic pain center I would definitely want to see someone who is part of the team. I think just your average doc in a box is not going to understand the complexities of physical pain and how it perfuses into other areas. Especially rectal pain.

Jen,
I think the boardie friends are good also, but we all have similar probs!! Sometimes I am thinking it might be good to get a professional perspective about things. Also contemplating trying to get a new gp locally as I really don't have one right now with whom I have any confidence. The guy I am going to possibly see has a specialty of seeing persons with physical probs (he's a psychologist). I don't want to start any anxiety meds!! I took a pill a few decades ago and felt like I was not in my right mind after I took it (maybe Valium or something like that). I am basically against medicines although I do take Fosamax for my bones and use Estrace cream vaginally.
Lecia,
Is sitting a big prob for you? You seem to be able to handle flying quite nicely!!

Boardie freinds are the best ! Image
Thanks Jen
I am waiting for my appointment which should be early Sept so the nice receptionists told me ! There was no mention of having A/D more than once but who knows Image
I don’t know his success rate either ! I can raise these concerns on my appointment date , but in some ways I would rather not know have faith and let the professional do his job !
I don’t want to look like a gooney turning up with a sheet of questions  its difficult ...the NHS system is a little bit crazy but I have hope!

Jen,
LIS will let the blood flow to the area. it is beig constricted by the clench of the internal sphincter, so once that tension is lessened, blood flow will be better inside and out. At least that's what my CRS explained.

Flying is a major problem. That is why my bottom hurts so bad this second round-I shouldn't have come out again because it does make my pain worse but I didn't have a choice.

Tabby, your doctor seemed like the kind of guy who wouldn't think you are gooney if you came in with a sheet of questions. I am sure he would be refreshed by your interest and if you get people talking about what they are knowledgable about they can go on forever. I always start out by thanking the doctor for taking time to see me and acknowledge that maybe most patients don't come in with papers but that this has gone a long time and I need to make the most of our time together since he is a busy guy. Sometimes I ask, what would you do if I were your sister or daughter or wife-anything that can make him feel like it is a personal issue for him as well.
Sometimes I will state up front that I am nervous-that I have seen a lot of doctors and haven't been able to get the help I need and I am hoping that he can help me sort things out. Basically, I try to get them to see me as a human being. It doesn't always work-especially on the old school doctors who think women are all mental though.

I wonder what could a counselor tell me? I went to counseling before for YEARS and I don't know that it did me any good. We kept talking about the same thing over and over again and I finally figured out that that was my problem! I kept talking about my problems and holding on to painful situations. It was so freeing to end that and not keep rehashing things. So I guess I am more a take medicine kind of girl, pray and find a good friend to talk to, but I would see one who was specialized in pain perhaps.

Yes, Leesee. I think it would be marvelous if you could find a talented and devoted pain specialist who had the motivation to look a little deeper than most would. :nevergive:

That was the the scenoiro !! - I shook his hand when he came in and told him I was very pleased to meet him at last !!! the rest went as above,
He could tell by my face I nervous, I did make him aware of how this is affecting my life and how I cannot move on until this is fixed…
I can devise a short questionnaire for him I don’t see why not !

We all just need to do whats right for us. Some people do well with therapy, others do well with meds. For now, I hope you all don't mind being my therapy. :fairyflower:
Tabby - I think you have a very good attitude about the situation. September seems so far off though - Have your pain been tolerable? Will you be able to make it that long? I hope so!
Buttgirl - My lack of painful spasms concern me with healing. I know you said you had the same "tension" feeling that I have. Did your tension increase with any regular sized bowel movement? Basically, my BM's are painless, unless they are larger than a finger. It does not hurt when I put cream in with my finge (maybe a little stinging). It just seams to really hurt if I have a normal sized BM. I never have large BM's because I am never constipated. Also, once in a great while for no reason I feel sharp pinching or stabbing in the area - Does that sound like spasms?
My doctor said he felt spasms during my exam - but I sure as heck didn't! I am starting to heal well from my tare this week. Things are getting back to normal. I knew this would all happen once I started the nitro back up. I think it will be smart for me to still get the LIS despite me feeling ok at the time. This fissure has just been reoccuring for way too damm long!!!

I'm not sure if I will even qualify to be seen by this counselor, but he is part of the anxiety clinic, so I thought he sounded appropriate. Reducing my anxiety level would be a great step forward in my bout with IBS.
