Dear Jen, I am so happy to know that you are in good hands- your doctor truly knows what he is doing !!! He is amazing ! I also think that nobody ever did manometry on me because I am also such a tight ass- they have no problem seeing that immediately. I mean, 4 CRS saw me after my LIS and all of them said that I am still VERY tight down there : (. So, buddy, as I said, truly let your incontinence worries aside - pray that he cuts enough !!! You will heal so fast (knock knock knock) - I have NO doubts in that. You got better by using creams - it also shows that tightness is the culprit ! I think that regarding tightness you are now where I am after the LIS and as you see it was not enough : (. I now have recurring fissures that do not hurt that much but are still there to make me miserable and anxious and uncomfortable during BM : (.
Go, dear buddy, let him fix it , once and for all and be free !!!!!
Corsica - I don't know about Botox and LIS : ( combo. Did Botox make you any more relaxed down there? If yes, maybe it would be vise to wait couple of more weeks so CRS can feel the tightness during surgery - I really am guessing now here , he should know hopefully !
Love to all !

Jen,
I hope you are "recovered" from the painful Image exam. It is good that you can get this fixed for once and forever!
Take care,

Thanks for the support guys! Image
I am honestly so scared of this upcoming surgery that I can't even sleep. I just hope it cures me. I am so lucky to have all of you here. I could not imagine having LIS without talking to others who have been there before. Thank you for all your kind words! Image
Fissy - I asked my doc today about if LIS can reverse itself and heal. He said no - that LIS is pernament. I thought of you during this and now I know that not only do you have a tight butt, but it has super powers as well and can heal itself. That is one strong bum! You will weaken it though - your time has come to heal! I just know the butt make over will work. Yes, it sounds like our butt are the same tightness now, as both our fissures break and heal fast.
Corsica - I am also uncertain about the botox and LIS question. I really wanted botox, but my CRS talked me out of it. He does give it, but I think he prefers the healing affects of LIS. People can and do heal with botox. Have you noticed any difference? I am now wondering how long my fissure is. I have hear a couple other folks on here say theirs was 1-2 cm.
Kim - I wish I had a daughter! Maybe soon... :D :D :D
I hope your eye is feeling better - freaking banana spiders - what kind of name is that anyway!

I really think it is difficult to say if Botox have helped me or not, sometimes I think that it has...but then I still feel the tightness - especially after a painful BM. And shouldn't Botox, if it helped, work 24/7??? Botox is supposed to paralyze the muscle...
I sure feel that it hasn't been a miracle cure for me. But maybe it is my fault that my fissure has been such a problem again. I did allow myself to live more normal (foodwise) this summer, and when on holiday in Italy I drank wine, ate pasta, cheese, etc. (all in very small amounts...). There is a mental side to this fissureshit as well, because I have felt more happy this summer being able to eat together with my family instead of being on a soup/smoothie/eat little diet...but I don't know...
You can ask your doctor abouth the length of your fissure. My experience is that in case length matters Image The longer it is - the more painful it is during BM and during the day...
I really understand that you are scared about surgery Jen, who wouldn't be? But hopefully after this you will not have to be scared each and every day for you BM, and if that will be the end result it will be worth it, don't you think?

Jen, sorry your exam was painful, but at your check up after LIS it shouldnt be!!! I think you'll be glad you had it done, and I know how scary it is - I put it off for months and months due to fear, but you'll be fine, and it isnt as scary as it seems.

good luck !!

Your doctor sounds like my kind of guy. I think he understands your fears but realizes that unless you want to keep recycling through this problem you need to get the surgery. I would get it and then you can move on. With the way things are you just never know when you go to the bathroom if today is going to be the day where it breaks open again and you start having the pain. It is easy to back out when you aren't in acute pain but try to remind yourself of how bad you felt before. And remember how the RBL wasn't a big deal and you were a bit worried about that? Same thing for the LIS. I don't think it will be as bad as you are imagining.

Corsica,
I think LIS should be fine at this point, though I am no medical expert. With botox there isn't a standard dose or administration so I think results can vary based on the experience of the doctor.

Jen :truebud:
Good luck on Friday, I will think about you...
I have a small (unrealistic) hope that they would just do LIS on me when they do the manometry test on Tuesday.
You will be fine sweetie Image
Lecia :truebud:
You impress me, always supportive and giving good advice, even hough you have so much trouble yourself...

Thank you, Corsi, that is sweet. I get so much support here and it helps me get my mind of off my pain when I see others hurting too. Though I would prefer it if none of you were going through this pain.

The muscle can't heal, per se, once it is cut, but it can strengthen itself again after LIS. Mine started to do this and I immediately started back on the nifedipine and dilitazem again. Also, healing time is rubbish. it depends on the size of the wound. if it is a small fissure it may heal in 6-8 weeks. I think mine took 3 mos, and even now, 5 mos after, the area is still sensitive.
I do feel 85% better, which is a definite improvement and very livable. I felt 80% better last month, so I am still slowly improving.
So basically what I am saying is that the fissure still takes management, but hings do get better.
