This is Bernard. Just wanted to let Val and everyone know i am going back into surgery next week. I went in for a dye xray where they inject radioative dye into the fistula to see where it is contected too (not fun!). Mine is connected to my rectum the other fistuala is going no where just layed open. I have two doctors the CRS and GI to watch me over next week in the hospital. They havent decided approach to fix the fistula until i get there Monday. The approach on the procedure is going to be a group effort from the surgeon and GI. They have tested me all week for Chrons and nothing has come up positive. Bascially i am not healing internally which is why so many docs and specialist are on the case. They want to test me for Chrons in the rectum from tissue samples. They did this before but are going to go deeper to take samples.
Man i hate being a burden to my family. This illness keeps dragging on and on. My lovely wife has been under alot of stress at work working hard and putting up with me. I have been in pain and I have already prepped myself to take short term disability to heal after the surgery. Just afraid of losing my job as some of you know due to the lovely economic situation in the states and else where.

Try to let us know what day you will be having surgery so we can pray for you. It never hurts. I am presuming you live in the US. Soon we are going to get a new president who will fix everything. Try to keep a positive attitude. Good that you have tested negatively for Crohn's which is what my son has. Good luck! My husband had to drive me all around when I couldn't sit. That is what spouses are for!! Try to not worry about anything.

I'm so sorry you've got to go through another surgery, although it will be worth it in the end if they can find out the reason you're not healing and fix it once and for all. Dont worry about being a burden - none of this is your fault, its not like you would choose to be in this much pain!!! I wish you the best of luck and hope and pray that this is your final surgery which leads to your complete recovery.

Sorry it's been so rough, Bernard, but it looks like they are about to get serious in treating you, sounds like a rather aggressive course of action. Here's hoping you don't have Chrohns disease.

I guess that is what we all feel Bernard, but you have to remember one thing: It's not your fault that you have this, you did not ask for it. We all have to do the best we can out of our lives.

Sorry you have things that don't heal Bernard, but it must feel good that they are two who will try to help you. I really hope that that they find out what is wrong with you. I don't know if I have written this before, but I have heard that Chrons can be difficult to diagnose. Don't give ut till you find out what's wrong.

Yes the doctors are scatching their heads with the Chrons. It is very hard to diagonose as stated by Corsica. They are going to test for Chrons in the rectum on the next test which is a tissue test.

I am so sorry you are still having troubles. I will pray for you. Hopefull, this surgery will fix everything - It sounds like you have a couple of good doctors teaming up to help you.

Bernard - sooooo sorry buddy . I pray that they find what is wrong super fast and do perfect job fixing you up !!! It is great that they work as team now - two heads are MUCH more smarter than one and they will check each other to not mess up. I am sure that now they really take your case seriously and that they will consult even more of colleagues ! Crohn's is hard to diagnose but only if not tested correct way - they are doing everything right so far ! Histological analysis should give definitive answer - it is impossible to have inflammatory process and have no changes in the cells !!! They should take couple of samples though, randomly from different places since if they miss the particular spot, they can miss than inflamed part of a colon . I guess you already had a colonoscopy ??? Please take care of your diet and start taking probiotics and FOS .

at least they are doing their very best to try to diagnose crohns. They are being very thorough, so chances are they will find out why you aren't healing. It must be such a nightmare for you, I hope they are quick to find out whats wrong and put it right.

I am so sorry for all your pain. Great that the docs are going to do take samples from your colon to see if something is wrong.
I realy hope that they fix you for good this time :) There have to be a reason for all of this madness.
