I think it is nice the way we all support one another. By the way there were about 50 people yesterday at the conference and some picked up my ATP materials on display. It was a disability advocacy conference. Only one prob--our state is in debt big time and we rank 51st in services for people with disabilities.
Jen, I think you should provide us with updates while you are in Hawaii. I got on the internet several times during our Hawaii trip, but I did have to pay for it (couldn't get on free like I did during our stay at Mayos).
Lastly, if any of you could ever distribute ATP materials for me, you can PM me with your address and the people in LA would be most happy to send you materials directly. Tabby has even helped me over in Scotland!! :heart7:

Cheryl - Thats so awful about IL being ranked #51 out of all the states for disability services. I never would have expected that from IL - I would, however, expected that from Nevada (we seem to be at rock bottom with everything nowdays). Come on President elect Obama - thats your home state?! Is this all because of finance issues? Which states ranked first?
I would be more than happy to help you out with distributing ATP materials! I will PM my address after I come back from Hawaii. We leave in less than 2 weeks and I don't want to get much mail or packages while I am gone for so long. Just remind me when I get back - I think it is so great that you are such an advocate for this Cheryl!
I'll get online as much as I can in Hawaii!!! :) I am staying with family most the time so I will have internet.

Jen,
I don't know which states rank first in disaibility services since this conference was just about Illinois even though we are about the 8th or 9th wealthiest even though Chicago is a big drain on state finances (so many poor people live there). I have spoken with someone from Obama's office and hopefully, he will do some good things for our people.
Thank your for your offer! Being in nursing/health field you could have a very big impact. Image
I am still awaiting my training materials for becoming a science ambassador, but it was good to connect with other parents yesterday at the conference. We all understand the challenges of having a son or daughter with a disability.
I completely understand that you want no extra mail to come at this time! I am so excited for you. You richly deserve this break. Anyone with a family/child going to school deserves a lot of credit. This can be your reward for persevering through your trials and tribulations of having a butt issue. At the conference yesterday I sat with a person I had not seen for a few years. She has two sons who are disabled. But she also told me that she has been having diarhea since April supposedly due to a virus. She said she does not have to watch what she eats, and metamucil seems to help her problem a bit. I think I will peruse my Hawaii pictures while you are gone. That will be great if you can go online while in Hawaii. Be sure to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center if you can. That was very interesting. I loved all of it except some of the pushy, aggressive people that you will see when you are there!! How do you like my avatar?????????

Cheryl -
I would do anything for you babe! Just make sure you remind me when I come home. I train at several hospitals in the valley, so I will be able to distribute the materials well.
What is at the Polynesian Cultural Center? Any places to eat that you might suggest??

Jen,
I love your avatar!! Just beautiful. I have had such fun searching for Hawaii avatars. The Polynesian Cultural Center was recommended to my by my boss at the time. He used to have Hawaii as part of his territory--if you can imagine that--so he traveled there a few times a year from LA. It is a large place run by the Mormon Church and helps support their university in Honolulu, I think. There are several different areas that each showcase a different Polynesian country, and they talk about their specific culture. It is a bus ride from Honolulu, but I don't remember how long it took.
We were able to choose specific activities during our 3-day stay in Honolulu as we were with a group. My husband went snorkeling with 5 other people while I went to the Polynesian Cultural Center with my mother in law (she was on the tour) and another lady. He enjoyed snorkeling!! I remember eating at our hotel and one other restaurant for breakfast. I think we mostly ate at our hotel, but we did go to the International Market Place. Then we went to the big island and Maui.
That will be just great if you can distribute materials for me when you get home!!

Hi Jen,
Saw on one of the thread you are leaving Saturday! I wish I could go! It is getting cold here and I would love to sit in the sun and forget everything for awhile. Enjoy your time there and your family. Hope you have a wonderful trip!! I will be thinking of you.
Hope your butt is behaving...
