farting: does it cause you pain?

Postby happyass » 13 Jun 2007, 08:52

i think there has been some discussion here before and it had died down but there are a lot of new AF members here and i wanted to get a consensus of another culprit that sometimes causes challenges or problems on the road to healing: farting!!!!!
we can all agree that there are many types of farts. the ones that simply just exit nicely out of the butt with no straining or drama. they can be silent or march to the beat of their own frrrrrrrrt!
but then there are those farts that just seem to linger around the inside of the ass and just torment and make you feel more full or simply just miserable that you force it out, using your straining powers that be, against the fart's will. fart be gone now!!!!! the sad thing is that despite relieving yourself of the trapped gas, you now suffer pain and discomfort and throbbing and sometimes can irritate a skin tag, fissure, fistula, or whatever else is going on down there.
*****
eventually all farts will find their way out peacefully. the challenge is allowing them to do so, so that if you find yourself in the habit of forcing them out, try to let them peacefully exit on their own. it's very hard.
i often had a lot of setbacks due to this. i hate feeling hostage to a lingering fart. it annoys the crap out of me (pun intended) when it just sits there at the edge of my anus and doesn't come out!!!!!! Image

Wow, Gareth, you need to write your fart musings into a little poem or booklet!
I hate the ones that make you feel like you gotta go...

Hey HA,
I'm going to ask my CRS today about this and I'll let you know the outcome. For me, if they come out naturally, they feel fine, but if I strain on them, I feel like I've done something wrong. I plan on asking the CRS if its ok to use Beano to prevent gas. I too tend to have a sufficient amount of gas in me at any given time, and unless I exercise regularly, it builds up and bothers me.
I'll let you know what I find out.

Passing the gas (farting) does hurt if I force them, but if they go with the flow it feels ok. Farting in general makes my nephew laugh hysterically.. he's only 13 what can yyou expect.

I checked with my CRS yesterday and he said that passing gas does not hurt the AF. I asked him twice to make sure. I hope that helps. I'm thinking that straining may cause spasms in some cases though.
Hope this helps some.

My understanding is that straining is one of the worst things you can do. It gets the sphincter too tense and that's what sets off the spasms, for sure..

i am also a firm believer that straining = possible and rapid onset of pissed off skin tag and/or thrombosed veins which then get super irritated and burn like a mofu!
yes straining is bad.
even if you are straining just to pass a fart!!!!!!
if you need to fart and can't get it out, let it come out on its own. else, take some charcoal caps.

I've been doing well since I had botox about 4 weeks ago.  But the other day I had bad wind and I did push out some farts, since then I have had more pain, it does feel like its set my healing back- so pay heed, do not strain to angel gas!!!

I'm such a kid. I only had to see the title of this thread and started wetting myself laughing!!
A build up of gas for me personally is the worst because of the abdominal discomfort and yes, it did hurt to let it rip when my fissure was playing up and I wouldn't recommend pushing or straining to get it out but going with the flow and letting it all flow naturally is definitely the way to trump.Image

Hey Guys,
I also experience this specially after dinner, and I have done a lot of internet research on this because this is one of the most annoying symptoms. I don't know why I have this, all I now is that before all of this fissure problems I didn't have this kind of gasses, anyway, I just wanted to shared with you that I found a probiotic that helps me with the bloating/gas trapped feeling, is called "Pearls" in case you want to give it a try it might work for you as well.
Is been 7 days since I started to take it and I have noticed that the gas has decreased considerably and also if I have gas is the kind that finds an easy way out, without the need to push.
