So last week I posted for the first time on how frustrated I was with the slow progress after my sphincterotomy surgery.
Today it has been exactly 5 weeks since the surgery. I'm beginning to see a light at the end of the tunnel and I'm extremely optimistic about it for the first time since my surgery! :)
I've been verrry cautious with my diet, but last night had pizza for the first time since the surgery. I was paranoid it would cause problems with my BM this morning, but everything has been fine.
I've started taking flaxseed oil twice a day, along with the stool softeners. I'm having more of a dull pain now, a "sore" feeling and occassionally some itchiness. (Maybe this is what my surgeon meant by "sore" for a few weeks after the surgery).
I'm still taking 3 warm baths a day and also up to 4 ibuprofen just to combat the soreness and also to adjust my body to not feeling as much pain all the time. I will ease up on those as needed. I think this is all a sign that things are progressing. It just took awhile!!! My fingers are crossed that I keep feeling better, day by day.
I'm so glad I found this site when i was feeling at my lowest (both before and after surgery). It's a god-send for anyone suffering with what we've all dealt with. The advice and words of encouragement are so helpful. :)
