Haha Gareth you're hilarious. Don't worry, that is the LAST thing on my mind these days. Infact I don't even want to think about that til marriage, especially cause of this stupid fissure.
drewsmom, I think it's just the aloe vera gel that's been a bit weird. When I used pure aloe vera juice (that had really no other ingredient apart from pure aloe vera juice), it was very soothing. The aloe vera gel we've been using is (I think) mixed with other ingredients... Maybe that's what's causing the problem.
buttgirl, i think that gel is seriously a bit weird. After using it I started feeling my fissure a bit more, it was weird. It wasn't providing the same healing as the aloe vera juice would... Usually with the juice I'd start getting itchy (assuming that's a good sign) - and it'd provide a nice type of soothing relief. This gel is sort of weird!

i bought the real plant and that stuff was great.
just get yourself the plant and leave it room temperature or you can cut a limb off and put it in the fridge to make it a bit cooler for night.

Gareth is right, there is no substitute for the real plant. You cut a leaf off, and squeeze the juice out. Then you apply the juice. It is pure, fresh aloe. Nothing else comes close.
The plants are inexpensive and can be found at Lowes or anyplace with a good plant selection. One plant would last quite a while...

I even saw big aloe leaves for sale at Whole Foods, a supermarket...might be another place to look.

Yes, Steve, Aloe is one of those plants that you might find almost anywhere, from time to time...it's probably the most popular live herb out there...
