Possible Inherited Aspect of Fissures?

Postby Del » 29 Dec 2009, 04:33

Spoke to my Mum, who knew I had problems but had'nt realised they had escalated recently.
She mentioned that my Gran (on Mums side) suffered and my three sisters all suffer from the same thing. However my little brother doesn't.
Is it possible that there is an inherited aspect to this problem?
Incidentally I suffered from pyloric stenosis as a baby and so did my first born son. This usually is passed down through the male line and usually only to first born sons. Now this as I understand it is a narrowing of the ringed muscle that passes food through the gut/stomach which is a similar thing to the problem with the inner sphincter muscle, is this also connected??

Incidentally one of the treatments for pyloric stenosis is to cut the offending muscle to slacken it off!

My mum had a fissure operated on about 50 years ago--she's 84 now. My dad had hemmroids, but I don't know of him having any fissures. He did take Metamucil however! I think bowel/digestive issues can run in families, resulting in fissures sometimes developing.

I do think there could be something to an inherited susceptibility to developing a fissure!

My father had a fissure before so I think there is some inherit aspect.Probably have a weak rectum in my paternal side but I never asked around in my family if anyone else ever had a fissure. The one thing I know though is that in my moms side we all had some kind of skin problem from my moms rosacia(if thats how you spell it)two of my cousins had bad rashes when they were younger and my nephew also had a rash problem.I'm currently dealing with rashes and have bouts with bad acne but luckily my medication cream is keeping it under control.Rectums are made of skin so....thats my curse. my dad has anal fissures. I think deep down inside we have muscular problems that cause this. so yes, i think it can be hereditary.
