I have had this anal fissure for about 4.5 years. I only have a little discomfort but I still feel some stinging and pain when I have some hard poop or some diarrhea. I am fortunate I guess compared to some others on here. I am worried though that if I have a real bad episode of diarrhea or constipation, my fissure will be in really bad shape. I can still live a normal life and deal with this beast but I am worried that it will get worse.
Would a really horrible bout of diarrhea or constipation set me back to square one again? has anybody had a nasty bout of either? did you recover?
second question is... Can I have immunity to nifedipine now? I have been using it for 3.5 years! Can the nifedipine do any harm to my body because I have been using it for so long?

Yes - any bout of diarrhea or constipation will probably set you back - possibly to square one.
Ask your doctor about Nifedipine - I see no reason for you using it for 3 years when it did not help you heal !!!! Why would you do that ? It is usually used for couple of months to promote complete healing - if patient does not heal - than it is obviously not helping enough and you need more permanent solution like LIS or advanced anal flap surgery.
Whatever you use to clean yourself and is not giving you any trouble you can safely use - I think it is logical - do you ?
You are worrying about too many things - I wish you can find help and work on your anxiety problems - it is very very hard and taxing to live a life like that : ((((.
