Yup I do hope it works Cheryl :) Tried it for the first time just now and don't seem to notice too much yet. I do feel slightly dizzy so maybe I used too much, who knows. Guess the true test will be during the morning BM, for better or worse I should be able to tell if it's doing anything at that time.
And yeah I can't blame the doc for a minor slip. We all make mistakes, goodness knows I make my fair share at work. I think I was mostly annoyed by the fact that I felt like the front desk was talking down to me like I had no clue what I was talking about. Anyway I'm glad my doc was willing to call me back quickly and look it up to make sure I got the right stuff. I don't think some docs would even be willing to do that, so kudos to him for responding to his patients' needs.
Hope things are going well for everyone today. Good morning to UK/Europe, good evening to anyone in Oz, and good middle of the night to all you midwesterners :)

Good morning NG, it's 09:08 a.m. here in the UK!
You're not alone on the dizzy front, when I first applied the dilt I used too much, I forgot that i'd been told by my CRS to use a pea-size amount of the ointment, since it's for treating mainly heart problems it's probably not a good thing to use too much of it in one go, but it definitely makes me feel different!

Ok 1 BM in with diltiazem and so far it seems to do okay as far as relaxing the butt. It definitely makes me dizzier than either nifedipine or nitroglycerin though. But that may be because I've been shooting a big gob of it up the anal canal with a syringe like I did with nifedipine and nitroglycerin. I did that before I left for work this morning and was kind of lightheaded during the commute.
One thing I do notice is that it makes me a bit itchy all over. Kind of a light stinging itch. Not painful or anything but a little annoying. I don't know if I might be allergic to it or if that's a common side effect. Time will tell I guess. Anyone else get this from diltiazem? It's not a localized itch but a systemic one.

Woah! A syringe? Sounds more like you're trying to give yourself an enema!

I used my creams only outside and they worked just fine (but obviously my sphincter was so tight that only TWO LIS surgeries could relax it finally)
I used them before and after BM ( I had 4 BMs a day due to all fiber and softeners) and also before I would go to sleep. At one point I used Nitro and Nef. simultaneously with no problem.
NO - Vaseline will not make any absorption barrier- it is a BASE for those creams - so obviously it can deliver an active ingredient just fine.
Vaseline is inert substance - does not get absorbed , protects from moisture and fecal matter or discharge and is great base for compounded meds.
