Colace is a brand name for a stool softener. Its basically Docusate sodium. How it works: "It acts on nerve endings in the gut wall. These nerves then make the muscles in the intestine contract with more force and more often. When the gut contracts, it moves the contents along faster, and so it reduces constipation. It may also act by softening the faeces. The muscle contractions move the faeces through the bowel faster, meaning that there is less time for water to be absorbed from the faeces in the gut into the blood. As a result, the faeces contain more water and are softer and easier to pass."

I had my first surgeon visit today and it went pretty well.
Good news is she did not see a AF at this point and believes it's healing or has healed.
I don't think it's completely healed as I'm still having some pain.
I've been told to keep using Nitro and of keep up with the other things I am doing (fiber an such)
I do have a small skin tag though, which currently is annoying but she does not want to remove it at this point.
I'm not going to post my tale of healing as I don't want to jinx anything at this point, but I will.

That is great news. I remember going to the CRS and thought for sure I still had the fissure because I was still in pain and it turned out to be from the skin tag. Maybe try some aloe vera on it-I know it helped me.
Congrats!!!

The surgeon visit really f'd up things.
I was starting to feel better, then the surgeon went exploring.
The AF is hurting and she really aggreviated a hemmi.

I had two visits to the to my colorectal specialist so far, and while I'm sure he has a gentle touch for someone in his field, I had notable regressions both times. I'm currently suffering through the second regression, and I swear I'd take a swing at him if I saw him walking down the street (hehe, not really).
Keep that chin up though. Frankly, a good attitude is the only thing keeping me sane -- no, really: I can't even begin to explain the kind of pain we've all felt to people who never have ... heh, ergo my handle on this forum.
