Hello everyone..this is my story

Postby Rosa » 28 Feb 2011, 08:50

In 20 years ive had a couple of fissures, also an external Pile once.
In November 2009 the last fissure went on and off for about 6 weeks. I used creams etc. and eventually it healed up.
In December 2010. one day I felt that awful glass cutting pain again.I'd been tense the day before and not been to toilet so was straining a bit  I thought oh no not again.. I treated with cream and 2 small bumps came up in the sore area. After a few days the bumps disappeared but was left with a small skin tag .
The fissure has got better and then if ive been tense ( suffer anxiety), its re opened and ive had to treat it again.
It had calmed down nicely in January this year until anxiety tensed me up too much for toilet and again there was some blood on tissue,or along side of stool..Everthing else looks perfectly normal other than that.
I wonder if long term sufferers could help me out with couple of questions?...Can these fissures bleed even without the severe cutting pain being present ? just discomfort....and also, on 2 occassions when using moist toilet wipe before applying cream there has been a pinprick of blood on tissue even an hour after BM.
I have a blood phobia which doesnt help at all with this condition !
I did put a bit of pressure on the tissue though, did I press too hard on a vein or something ?

Hi Rosa...
To answer your question, yes, I think fissures can bleed without causing a ton of pain, especially when they're chronic, which yours definitely are after 20 years. Mine are chronic too. And yes, there sometimes can be blood later on after the bowel movement if you dab with a wipe...the fissure has been reinjured by the BM and so it's going to take some time to heal up again and stop bleeding.
Have you seen a specialist yet? I just saw one last week and it was not nearly as awful an experience as I thought it'd be.
Are you taking a stool softener or fiber supplement? Those are a must have. I'm sure after 20 years you've probably heard that you shouldn't eat certain things; no sharp foods like popcorn or nuts or chips. And make sure you're drinking plenty of water. Things should improve with these steps...but it's probably a good idea to have a CRS take a look at you.
Best wishes!

Also hemorrhoids can be rather symptomless except for the tell-tale blood on the TP. To follow the usual fiber diet, stool softener, water and bath routine would be a good route, and hopefully that will take care of it.
