I have had a couple of fissures for over a year now and they have bothered me on and off. Miralax pretty much keeps them in control but I had a re-tear about a month ago when I stupidly went off the Miralax for a few days.
I have been using my diltiazem consistently for the last month and haven't had any pain with BMs and had blood just once. However, the area around my anus has become very raw and when I wipe it when the moisture builds up I get a pinkish/red discharge on the TP. This also happens after the second wipe after a BM.
I had seen my CRS last year about this when the fissure first flared up and he said it looked like excessive moisture causing the skin to break down. He told me to use soft gauze pads in there to mop up the excessive moisture.
I think the excessive moisture from the diltiazem may have caused this. Anyone else run into this issue?
I have stopped using the diltiazem because the raw, weeping skin around my anus is my biggest problem now, not the fissures.
