first AF :'( help

Postby Baton Bell » 16 Nov 2011, 17:45

Hello there, the other night i went to poop and I felt a cut on my butt hole, it was bearable so I ignored it. But then the next night I went to poop again, and it hurt like a bi**h!!.
So I stopped pooping right away :'(
I then googled it and found I had an anal fissure, I also remember wiping blood off my butthole a few days and ago, and I think i know what has caused this. the other day I had a poop sooo intense that I strained so hard I thought i was gonna have a heart attack like elvis, So this is what caused it i guess.
I have stopped myself from pooping because im scared of the intense pain, I tried to go again just now, with some vaseline *blush* but still it hurts so bad so i stopped again. I just wanna poop so badly but i cant, what can i do? :'(

Hi there, I'm sorry to welcome u. Do read up "my success story" thread (do a search) to have some ideas how to heal naturally. If urs has just appeared, you do have a high chance of healing on ur own. Do make sure now, most importantly is to avoid constipation!!! It can only further damage the fissure. Go buy miralax or movicol depending on where u r located. Many ppl here on board has taken this with great success, softening their stools. Do note that this will take a few days for it to kick in. For now, DO NOT load up on fiber as I suspect u maybe impacted already. What u shld do now is take some prune juice and aim to clear whatever that's left in ur bowels. If still can't, maybe u need to some OTC laxative. Remember it will be painful, but u nd to clear ur bowels, else it will be more impacted and wld be much much harder. Avoid meats for the moment, or flour starchy stuffs. Drink lots of water.
If u can afford or is still worried, do consult a CRS. Do not consult gp, they are not specialized in this and will most probably b wasting ur money and time. Do take a panadol or paracetamol if the pain is too much. Thus is the safest painkiller to help u without causin constipation.
Do continue with using vaseline before each bm. Take deep breaths in and out slowly. Do not push or strain. This helps to relax ur anus while encouraging urge. Remember let ur anal muscles do their job in pushing out the stools, u don't have to take over, try ur v best to relax despite pain. Apply aloe Vera after bm, as much as often as u want. It is possible to heal within a week / 2, about 80%, if u keep stools soft and keep applying aloe Vera. At least that's for me

Great advice dwarfs8!
Baton,
There's some really good tips in the diets and supplements threads. I totally agree with dwarfs about getting a laxative if things don't start moving and taking Miralax daily until your fissure is healed. You will need to keep up with a good diet and stool softener for quite awhile even if you start feeling better.
You have a really good shot at healing your fissure right now while it's early. As Dwarfs said it sounds like you may be impacted/constipated and the sooner you can have a bm, the better. It's only natural to not want to go to the bathroom when it hurts but in the long run it will make things worse.

Oh I remember those days. The pain of my first fissure was SO intense plus it was terrifying because I didn't know what it was. I had just had a baby too, and trying to deal with everything was so horrible.
Please don't make the mistake I did, I assumed it was baby-related, just used the hemorrhoid ointment they had given me at the hospital, and didn't really question the doctor about it. You really need to get the right ointment NOW or there's a chance this will turn into a chronic problem and you'll wind up needing surgery. You'll need nitroglycerin, nifedipene, or diltiazem ointment. Not every doctor knows enough to prescribe them, and they have to be compounded by a special pharmacy. Whatever you do don't let them prescribe you some steroid cream, like proctozone or what-not. Steroids will not help you at all and they will make the skin thinner and cause more tearing.
The Vaseline was a good call, but definitely get yourself some Miralax too. You must avoid straining EVER again. I know that's almost impossible. Sadly, once you've torn in that area the skin is weaker there for years afterwards and you can retear it easily. I had fissures on and off for five years before I did the surgery.
Good luck! Please find a doctor, if you get the right ointment, you may not have to suffer like so many of us have.

IMO u shldnt be afraid to take 3 per day, as now u maybe impacted and really nd to soften. Actually the best for u now is to use a fleet enema. Cos that can soften ur harden stools that are at the rectum. Softeners can't really softe. Stools that are alr at the rectum.
Remember DO NOT hold ur urge. Go when u have to. Breathe in deeply and out slowly, when u r at it

Baton,
I'm not sure how long it's been since you've had a bm, but you may need something harsher than a stool softener. You may have to bite the bullet and take a laxative or like Dwarfs said an enema. It won't be pleasant but it's got to be done because the longer you hold that bm or don't go- the harder and larger it can become. The stool softeners will be good to take for daily maintenance so that you have softer bm's and don't constipate. If the softeners you have right now are docusate sodium ( Name brand- Colace in the US) they won't do much for constipation if anything. They really aren't that good for anything in my opinion, but we are all different...
