hi im new here

I ,ve not posted on here before but am in need of some advice. I,ll try and cut a long story short! I,ve suffered with anal fissures on and off for over 2 years since the birth of my 2nd child. I felt like I was finally on the mend , up until 4 months ago when I had an anal polyp removed. Since then it has come back. Was on scheriproct supposotories and cream for 2 months , finally got referred to crs who has put me on anoheal. Used that for 4 weeks and went back to gp for more and have now got dilitazem 2% hydrochloride, which the pharmacists tells me is the same thing. My af doesnt seem to be getting any better. How long before it works? Its over 6 weeks since Ive seen crs and another 6 weeks until I see him again. Im so glad Ive found this forum , my partners very good and understanding bit no one really knows how bad it is until they,ve experienced it. It takes over your whole life. I,m a stay at home mum with 3 children under 4 and some days Im really struggling with the pain. The crs says my next step will be botox if the cream doesnt work and i really dont want to go down that route!

Hey there,
sorry to hear about your set backs with the fissure. They are horrible and fool us then come back with a vengeance.
The Diltiazem can be helpful with managing but doesn't always work with curing or healing. It took about a week before I noticed the Diltiazem helping when I had my fissure. It did help me to manage the pain but I really never got complete relief from spasms, until I had the surgery.
Good Luck and hang in there. I know Botox can seem scary but many have said it's not that bad and have had decent results as far as getting relief.

hi ju8, you may like to know more about healing naturally if you haven't decide on getting botox or surgery. Search the thread "my success story". Let us know if you have any questions and continue on using the cream that CRS has given you pls. Also, have you tried sitz bath? That can help a lot too.

Thanks for replying. Sometimes you start to lose all hope that your ever going to get better. Having been using this cream for over 6 weeks and was hoping for the miracle cure. No such luck! I couldnt find magnesium tablets in supermarket, bought milk of magnesia instead a few weeks ago but was too frightened of getting diarroeah to take it! The aloe vera and vit e supplements seem worth a try. Thanks

u probably shld go to a pharmacy to check out magnesium supplements. You can also order it from vitacost/iherb as well.
I wouldn't recommend Milk of magnesia, as it's a laxative, and it's much harsher then the supplement

Hi Ju8 and welcome, although I know you'd rather be doing something else (anything else!) than worrying and suffering with an anal fissure. I haven't been on in a while, but I tried the creams and did have two rounds of Botox. I am quite a bit of a wimp about many things and I didn't find the Botox to be nearly as bad as my mind had conjured up. It was over quickly and there were no particular side effects. I had the first on Nov. 4th a year ago and it did seem to calm things down some. Unfortunately, mine was just pretty chronic by that time. The Dr. suggested a second round of Botox and I had that in early January of this year. Once again, I think it helped but confused things a bit because I was better, but not really better if that makes sense. I finally had my surgery on Feb. 17th and I was scared to death. The Dr. was surprised at how spastic and tight my sphincter muscle was and that helped me to know I probably wouldn't have gotten completely better without it. I am doing very well now and that's why I haven't been on much. The primary thing that still troubles me is just my fear of things returning, but the reality is things are pretty normal!
Hang in there and don't let the fear of these other treatments stop you if the Dr. recommends them. Certainly check out your Dr. and seek another opinion if you want or that can happen in your system. But don't wait and wait and wait because of the fear. That's my thoughts.

P.S. You have a lot to handle with 3 little ones under 4!

Hi Ju8,
Totally understand how hard it is. Sending all my best wishes! Why do you think the fissure came back so bad after your 2nd baby? Did you breastfeed by any chance? Am so sure that's what did it for me. Good luck with everything, let me know how you get on xxx
