Post Op Day 5

Postby Sue1962 » 14 Jan 2012, 19:10

Day 5 has been a turning point for me!! Image Even though I haven't been in very much pain at all since my surgery. It was more of a constant nagging ache, more soreness than pain. I really think the worst part is the swelling, but today is definately decreased moderately. The bruising is going away and my fissure feels like it is healing. Still a little sting after a BM, which goes away quickly after the tub, but it is really hard to clean that area even with the shower wand b/c of all the swelling. Today was easier in all aspects :D I have been sitting since day 1 just a little here and there, but today with the swelling being decreased have been sitting a little more with no problems only 400mg of Ibuprofen, I did have a busy day. I know the vets are saying no it's too early, LOL. I am not pushing myself. I did run a couple of errands and go to the grocery store with my daughter, she drove!! She is a mother hen LOL. It felt so good to get out of my pj's and put a running suit on and some make up!!! and then I came home had a swim in the tub and rested the rest of the day. I think more than anything that is helping me is I haven't worn any underware since the day of my surgery no cottonballs no gauze just air!! wearing nightgowns and Big T shirts I really haven't had much drainage at all. I think that is due to the air and all the swims in the tub. I just put a towel on the couch and in my bed, just in case, but nothing. My surgery experience has been nothing short of a miracle!!! I love my CRS and will kiss him on the 24th when I go for my post op check!!! I had been in pain for sooo long, I forgot what it was like not to be. It is SWEET!!! I am thankful for my husband who has been a saint through this whole experience and helped me more than I can say. Again, I couldn't have done it without the vets, epecially Dawn, and Hope, my new BFF's Image you ladies should get an award for all the time you spend in here, epecially after being healed!!! Thank you for posting Sue :) This is going to be so encouraging to others. Most of us who did well didn't leave a detailed log and I think this is awesome and something I would have followed. I followed a similar older post before my surgery. Her name was Tabby. I never met her on here, she has no idea how much help it was for me to see her post before my surgery...
I know most of us will probably disappear from here one day. It just seems to be a pattern that happens in this place... I feel like I have made some friends that I may never meet or know outside of cyberspace but they will forever remain in my heart. This place has shown me how compassionate, caring and loving the human race is- from all walks of life, all over the world.
Just think, as well as you are doing right now how much another week is going to do for you!! I had that crazy skin tag removed so I think you are even ahead of where I was at day 5. You're doing great! Just don't get too crazy, and over do it there, Lol. I agree with you though, getting dressed and out of the house does wonders for a person after laying around. It does feel so good to be part of the real world and life again!!
Please keep posting Sue and let us know how you're doing. Image Image Image

I'm so happy you are doing so well! And you are even ahead of schedule too! :D It's great that the swelling has gone down and you are feeling so good. I definitely understand how wonderful it is to put some cloths and make-up on and get out of the house. :D
Thanks for posting such a detailed account of your experience. It makes such a difference to people facing surgery. Mostly people who have not had difficulties don't need support and so don't post very much or even at all; but those who have trouble post a lot more information, and this can give the impression that surgery is a lot worse than it really is. You're definitely helping a lot of people. When I was lurking here last year, I followed Dawn's posts everyday, and when she was doing well, I felt so much better! She, and other folks here, saved my sanity months before I came on this forum. :D
I'm so thrilled that you are doing great! Image Remember to take it easy and let your daughter fuss over you a bit. :D

Aw, girls . . . even though I wish I didn't have the problem that has prompted me to join this forum, I'm glad to read the posts from the wonderful people here who are trying to help all the rest of us.
I'm still struggling - and I will miss you all, if you go away for good - so I hope you will post a bit, from time to time.
Sue - since I'm relatively new to the forum (even though I post alot) - is there a way for me to find your posts, so that I can follow everything you've gone through, so far ?

Yes there is just go to the memberlist tab on the top of the page, and type Sue1962 it will list all of them. BTW, I am not going anywhere!! I will be around for a long time. Now that I am feeling better, I will continue to post in the hope that I can help others. Like a couple of other girls I know Image Hope. I cannot tell you how great I feel. Life is beautiful again!!! and you are right, most people who get on the other side are gone. I feel, like I received help when needed by and you and Dawn. You girls really helped me, so I am going to return the favor. If I can help just one person, calm their fears answer a question, then I am more than happy to do that.

That's wonderful! From a selfish standpoint, I know that you'll be here for me to talk to. From a general standpoint, your experience and advice will surely be a help to so many people.

Wow Sue that post has reassured me about the LIS surgery. I have mine tomorrow Image and am so nervous and worried if i'm making the right decision. My fissure has been a lot better the past two weeks so I've even thought about cancelling it. My husband though has been reminding me of times it has got better and then returned. I just don't want to be making the wrong decision especially as I am young and plan to have another three kids! (I already have a 4mth old).
Thankyou for posting about your recovery. I'm going to go back and read each one. Is there anything u would recommend to help with recovery? How long until you can go on walks? I go a bit crazy if I can't get out of the house! :D
Thanks again and all the best with the rest of your recovery.
