Thanks guys,
I really appreciate all the good wishes! :)
Davo,
I don't know if I buy that thickened edges story. Some crs docs seem to believe that and hence the fissurectomies. But others say the fissurectomies aren't necessary.
Is your doc going to do one?

Tanya,
A fissurectomy is where you remove the whole fissure during surgery and that is something completely different.
CRS's will normally scrape away the edges of the fissure during LIS/Botox to give a cleaner edge and aid healing. My CRS just said that if he finds the edges need cleaning up during LIS then he will remove the rough edges.

Davo,
That does sound less painful than fissurectomy.
I know that is what fissurectomy is, but why do they do it if not for the above reason?

I dont quite know why they would completely cut the fissure out unless the whole thing was a mess with skin tags, rough edges, etc.
When i was talking with my CRS and he mentioned about cleaning up the edges I asked if that was fissurectomy and he said no it just a simple scrape along the fissure edges to remove any roughage and loose bits of skin
