Cleaning Anal Area

Postby RainbowButt » 07 Apr 2012, 12:34

My doctor said that with fissures obviously I need to keep that area very clean. He said wipe with a damp toilet paper or paper towel until there is no stain when I wipe. The thing is when I do that it takes so many wipes that my butt is even more irritated. What is a more effective way of cleaning that area when I don't have the opportunity to actually hop in a shower? Are those medicated (witch hazel) hemorrhoid wipes a good idea? Thanks for the help. HI,
I would suggest a peri bottle. Some here like baby wipes (non alcohol kind).
witch hazel can be soothing. But astringents can be irritating if used too much.
If you live in the states, I've heard good things about balneol. Not tried it myself though, as it isn't available in Canada.
I just use moistened tp myself, but I tend to dab more than wipe.

I like baby wipes, but often use the over the toilet sitz bath. It's quick for a good cleaning without the hassle of having to completely undress for the shower.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just got some generic Balneol and I really like it, although it is outrageously expensive ($16 for a 3 oz bottle).

I'm not comfortable with some of the ingredients that Balneol contains, methylparaben being one of them, so I use Aubrey Organics Aloe Vera for cleaning up. What I like about it is that it actually has the consistency of water (not like aloe vera gel) so you can moisten the toilet tissue with it like you would water, but it cleanses a lot better than just plain water.
Just another option.
