I was so glad to find this forum. I really thought I was going crazy because all the other web sites say the pain should last anywhere from 1 o 3 hours after a movement. It doesn't tell you that this can be the most physical pain with emotional breakdowns wondering if it will ever heal. Pain was so severe, I went to emergency room hoping and praying that they could help. How discouraging to find out there was nothing they could do to help. Prescribed Valium which helps along with cream. Attacks are farther apart now but still creep up with fury. Weirdly at around the same time in the mornings about 1.5 mins after bm.
Bare with me as I learn the forum. This is my first.
Love the forum and will be back soon.

Bink...
So sorry you are having fissure pain, but yes, this is a great place for information and support. I know what you mean about the way pain is described on websites. It makes fissure pain sound much more tame than it actually is. The pain right after the bowel movement is due to the sphincter muscle clamping closed and spasming due to the fissure. A hot bath after a bowel movement can help with this pain and can help promote healing. If you dont see improvement in your pain after a werk or two, you should be seen by a colorectal specialist so that you can start a treatment plan. There are topicals that can be prescribed, and it is better to be evaluated sooner rather than later. Keeping stools soft and easy to pass with no straining is critical, as is keeping the area very clean.
Welcome, and I hope you find relief and healing soon.
