new here! I need support & healing success stories

Postby suffering mamma » 10 Jul 2012, 15:06

Hi everyone!
I recently found this place, thank the lord! I'm so glad (and sorry) to find others who I can relate to. I have been suffering with fissures since after my first pregnancy. I got pregnant again very quickly after and found myself in a world of pain with the horrible constipation that comes with most pregnancies.
I put off going to the doctor about my problem for a few weeks, then when I asked about it, I was told hemmrhoids, and then finally diagnosed with AF's. Now, 6 months after baby's birth and I'm still suffering, so I have chronic fissures :( I'm currently taking 15mL's. Of Lactulose every evening to helps soften my BM's and I'm also using the nif...(Can't remember how to spell it) its a calcuim channel blocking ointment 0.2% to help relax my angry sphincter. So far, my BM's are much less painful, but not I'm trying to get my fluid intake and my eatoing habits under control.
I feel like a freak. Nobody knows about my prob lem except my husband. I see my dr again next month and she'll decide from there weather or not I need to see a specialist, but as of right now she thinks I'll need surgery, as the fissure I have is quite deep. But what scares me most, is that she said they will sew the fissure shut !?! I've never heard of that procedure before. So I'm very worried but doing everything I can to relax and take care of what I put in my body.
Any healing success stories and other advice is greatly appreciated! I'm looking to make friends who will help me through this horribly difficult time. I'm a busy momma, so I need to get better fast.
Thanks everyone!

I've been healed for 3 months and am so fully recovered I am rock climbing and taking challenging hikes. In 2 weeks I'll be hiking into the Grand Canyon and back out.
Here is my post outlining the regimen that worked for me:

Hey there,
My GI also told me they would stitch up the fissure and referred me to a specialist (CRS) that actually did a LIS on me. It may just be that your doctor doesn't really understand the procedure that will be done by a surgeon. I'm pretty sure you will get a more detailed description of the surgery that will be done when you see your CRS. Just ask plenty of questions. As far as I know, they don't just stitch up fissures but that is what I was told too before seeing a specialists. LOL

Hi Mamma,
You're in the right place, you'll find lots of useful advice and lovely people here :)
The most important thing to know is that you will get this problem sorted one way or another! Stay positive if you can, and throw everything you have into getting yourself healed. I had LIS three months ago, and life is so much better now, I'm really glad I just got it over and done with, even though I was terrified beforehand. So if it does come to surgery for you, try not to worry too much and just keep looking forward and tell yourself that things can and will improve :) and don't worry about that comment your GP made, if you do make it as far as surgery, your surgeon will be able to give you proper advice about your situation. But until then, try not to worry! Easy to say, hard to do, I know. Hang in there!

Hey,
I too went through fissures after my birth and struggled with them for 3-4 months. It's now been 1 month since my last fissure which was only painful for 2-3 days, and it's been 2 months or more since I healed my original fissure that I had for months after giving birth. You find my story on this forum, including what I ate to make the perfect poop for me (see in diet and supplement section).
I have also been thinking that my hemmies contributed to this fissure not healing...do you have them after giving birth?? I also started to notice a huge difference when I moved close to my parents and got time to relax and think of me and not just taking care of my awesome little baby....it sounds silly but relaxing may actually help. Also, the other thing some people are thinking that may contribute to fissures after birth is weak pelvic floor muscles/change or damage to pelvic floor. Don't know, it can be a combination of a lot of things...BUT I gradually became better and better with time (you can read all my updating posts and strange questions on this forum), maybe as I ate the right things and my body adjusted after being pregnant and giving birth?? At this point I can barely remember how crazy horrible the fissure was and how I cried and got anxiety attacks when going to the toilet. It's hard to believe when you're in the middle of fissure hell but whether you heal naturally or go through surgery, in the end YOU WILL BE FINE :D So try to take one day at a time and focus on getting through to the day you can poop normally again! Crossing my fingers and toes that it will happen soon for you!
PS. Hi Tori-tore, I'm glad you're still doing well Image Hope your bebe is well too!!

Hey NewMummy,
Yeah I feel like 'me' again - finally! And bubs is 6months today, super cute and on the go the whole time, I think she'll be one of those early walkers at this rate, and I'm just so glad I'm all fixed and able to keep up with her!! Glad to hear you're doing well too.
Sorry for the post-hijack Mamma, but see - two sucess stories for you, one surgery, one conservative. And ongoing support :D
