I had a fissure sometime in January but I got it better with nitrogel. Well, I had a bad bought of diarrhea and it tore again--- my GI doctor is scoping me Tuesday to make sure it is a fissure, b/c this feels a bit different--- anyway, I am using nitogel and this stuff that is a blood pressure medication with lidocaine.... nothing is helping.
how long will it take to get this damned thing better? when i take hot baths, how long do i stay in the water? does putting your back side on a heating pad help? or should i be using ice packs? I cannot eat a lot of dairy b/c of the IBS....
I just really need some advice.

hi, instead of getting in a bath i would just sit in a tub (washing uo tub) filled with warm water for about 10 mins. i would them put my cream on staight after and i also put hot waterbottle under my bum when i was in bed to improve the blood flow to the area. i dont rekon ice will help you heal. i think keeping stools soft is the most important think, have alot of veggie soups blended up or clear broths, they hepled me alot. sorry to har your fissure tore again. dont worry it happens to me all the time, been happening for 10 years. gets better but comes back. but at least it gets better for a while.

I have been taking fiber thinking it would stop my diarrhea... it hasn't... nothing helps... but codiene... then i get constipated. does diarrhea make the fissure worse? Between the ibs and the fissure, I am dying.

i dont really know musch about ibs. but one time when i had diarrehea was my fissure better. i had heatstroke so was vommiting and had diarrehea. it cleared me out and stopped me having bm for a few days so my fissure healed in that time plus the diarreha was nostly water so it didnt open the fissure when i had bm. all my bms were soft after being ill too. i can imagine diarrehea could agrivate a fissure though.

Yes, diarrhea sure can aggravate a fissure. I think taking probiotics will help with that.

I alternating between a heating pad/hot bath with cold compress can help with the pain. My doctor also told me to take 800 mg advil 3 times a day.
