I've been reading through a lot of posts on this forum and have found a lot of useful information which has been great, however nothing I've done has completely resolved this problem. I'm 23 years old and have been suffering with my fissure for about 5 months now. Last year I had problems down below for about 8 months which 2 different GP's told me was a hemorrhoid problem, but when it continued I went to a colorectal specialist who told me that it was a fistula, and that I didn't even have hemorrhoids. I had surgery for the fistula and then my everything seemed to pretty much go back to normal, except for occasional itching. About 5 months later I started bleeding during a BM and was treated with an injection for an internal hemorrhoid. A few weeks later I developed pain and discomfort and after another lovely trip to the specialist, was told I now had a fissure. After 6 weeks of nitroglycerine treatment everything seemed to be fine and he told me it had 'mostly' healed. The pain came back a few weeks later and he recommended the LIS surgery which I agreed too. He told me I could return to normal activities the next day and that I would heal within 2 weeks. The surgery was apparently 'successful', however after a few weeks of pain which slowly subsided, I more or less am having the same amount of pain now as before the surgery, and it is nearly 3 months since I had it. I occasionally get stomach pain and my BM's are sometimes quite loose. I have had a blood test to rule out celiacs, and now I have been told I need a colonoscopy to rule our crohns, ulcerative colitis. I used to be a highly active guy, and now only manage minimal activities, and this is all I think about most of the time and I feel like it's ruining my life. I still manage to do kickboxing a couple of nights a week, which is the only thing that makes me feel better. I know there are others much worse off than me, but this is horrible! Sorry for the long story but I need to know if anyone has any advice for me?!?!?!?!
