So, a little back story, I've had a fissure for a few years now and finally went to the doctor about a year ago to get it checked out. I didn't even know it was called a fissure until I went to the doctor. All I knew was that I always had blood in my stool and it was worrisome. However, even after I was diagnosed with the fissure and referred to a specialist, I played a little game of denial with myself until it got worse. Now, I'm a little older, a little wiser, and not as embarrassed about this. But, I'm not quite sure the route to take for healing, so I'm on here. I have a few basic questions:
- Should I keep my fissure dry at all times or apply creams/lotions?
- I've bought Desitin to apply after a BM, is that a good choice for healing?
I bought the regular stuff- Metamucil, stool softener, sitz baths, but is there anything else I should get which would increase my chances of a quick healing?
Thanks for all your help. I appreciate your support and understanding in this.
