It'll be over before you know it!
Just think about how soon your life will be back to normal.
My visit was okay - not what I wanted to hear though. The wound is accumulating exudate and pus - and she really probed it and realized it's deeper than what my daily nurse thinks. So I need to continue packing it to "wick" the bad stuff away.
I'm going away this weekend - so I'm worried about that. Considering bringing my sitz bath with me. She did say the best thing would be to go in the ocean - it will help me heal quicker. I'm personally worried about potential infection from the water but I hear it's fine as it's heavily salted? She is also going to get the doc to prescribe some antibiotics just in case I feel an infection coming on. Not what I wanted to hear but - at least I know where I stand for now.. I don't have an infection right now, just accumulation of pus. Definitely trying to be very patient with the healing process!

Hey Zee - Seton removal details please :)
I have a draining seton but the nurses say it appears to have cut through a little and moved a little lower. I'm assuming that just happened by chance as the area healed.
My surgeon didn't give me any indication of exactly what she'll be doing next. She said there are a few options - with 50% chance of success. Her nurse did mention there is also a chance that it could heal up on it's on and the seton would fall out (praying for that to happen!).
Anyway, at this rate - I just want to be back to 100%.. been living with this issue for 3 years now!
Did they simply remove your seton? Or did they lay open the rest of the fistula tract? Did they perform any other procedures when removing the seton? How was recovery compared to the initial surgery?
My other fistula is almost fully healed - that was just a simple fistulotomy. There's just some granualation tissue at this point and what looks like a scratch (8 weeks post-surgery), I still get some blood but nothing major. So wish they had both been like that!
