Hi, first please try not to panic, although fissures are extremely painful, extremely, they are not life threatening. It's always best to see your doctor though. Self diagnosis isn't alway a great idea. Find out for sure what you have so you'll know how to treat it. There are so many butt problems that have similar symptoms so like I said find a good CRS and they will be able to tell you what's going on. In the meantime try to drink more liquids, add fiber and a stool softener to your diet and keep the area clean. Try not to strain when you have a bm and don't sit on the toilet to long. If you are getting spasms sit on a warm heating pad or in a warm bath, it really helps. Stay positive and breathe, stress only makes it worse. Hope this helps. Suzy
