Hi guys,
Would appreciate some advice on 2 fissures which have extended about 2 1/2 cm down each side of my perineum? I'm really struggling

Sounds really painful for you. I'm sorry, I can't give you any advice on that one though... Hopefully someone will come along who has had similar complications.
What has your dr said?
Have you been referred to a crs?
I hope you find some help soon

Hi OMB
Yes I saw my doctor yesterday and he is doing an urgent referral to a crs today. Unfortunately he is sure that it is going to need corrective surgery as things have gone a bit too far. In between the two fissures is a large swelling which runs from the anus to the v. It appears that I then have an external pile at the back of the anus, also infected....
I was mainly asking as I've been looking into LIS surgery, however I'm not sure whether this is needed as I don't think I've ever experienced the internal spasms. My pain has been like the usual passing of a razor blade around the opening? I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the specialist says, there doesn't seem to be any end to it, it's been 3 months now and most days are spent in bed....

Sounds awful for you E, I truly sympathise with you.
Are you taking any kind of stool softener?
I hope you get an appointment soon... I know what those waiting lists are like! Hopefully, as its an emergency, it will be next week.
Do you know how these tares started?

Hello and welcome! Sorry you are in pain! I am 13 days post fissurectomy and LIS. I had a painful skin tag removed that had formed due to the fissure. It looks like a hemorrhoid but it is not. So glad you have urgent referral to surgeon. I am very happy with results of my surgery and I will not have to worry about fissures again!
Please feel free to ask questions about my pre and post op experience!

Englanddevon, seem that you are having a few things going on down there, is nice that your doctor referred you with urgency to a CRS, I guess is up to the CRS to see what is the main and most important thing to work with first and take it from there.

Hi guys,
Thanks so much for your replies, had a tough last few days....
Own my bum - on movicol (4 sachets a day), lactulose and prunes, lots if water and healthy balanced diet. I've also been taking aloe Vera, zinc, vit c and cod liver. Tried 3 creams including gtn. Oh and on 3rd course of anti biotics aswell as morphine (dr gathered how much pain I was in after fainting from an examination)
The tears started 3 1/2 months and spent the best part of that time in bed....
Thanks also jess and marge. Great to hear something positive about LIS, I'm prepared to go ahead with it, I know it won't be pleasant but I figured that if I'm going to suffer then it might as well be part if the recovery with some light at the end of the tunnel!
Jess funny you should mention sentinel tag as the first doctor mistook this for a pile. I don't know how yours looked but I have 2 small lumps at the back, then a big one at the front (12 position I think). My gp agreed that this big tag may be pulling in the tears either side when having bm?
Feeling a little down today as I chased up CRS appt ..... 4 weeks away! My gp is calling me tomorrow to discuss what can be done as he feels it needs surgery now.
Thanks again for the support guys. My husband and I took the step to tell some close friends and family what has been going on, they were all v supportive, although they were all slightly disappointed as they thought my hibernation and illness excuses was because I was pregnant! Lol xx

Sor far I have read about LIS and the ups and downs, thankfully is more ups than down, so many sufferers find relieve right away after the LIS.
If you chose to have it, I wish you the best and a fast recovery, by all means keep us posted on your progress.

I know what you mean about chasing down a CRS. My appointment was on Feb. 6 and I had been calling every other day for three weeks to check on cancellations. There were NONE! One of the doctors in the practice had gone on disability or something so the remaining doctors were booked. I called on Monday, Jan.28th and told them that I was prepared to go to the hospital like NOW if they couldn't get me in to see one of their surgeons. Fortunately they called me back a few hours later and said that they had an opening if I could get there within the hour. I said OH YES I can be there! And then after seeing the surgeon, he said I would need surgery. Fortunately again, there was a cancellation the following Monday, so I was able to get in for surgery on Feb. 4. It was still a week from hell and I am so glad I didn't have to wait any longer. I tell you what though, I really had to advocate for myself!!!
