Fissurectomy site burning

Postby Jessjess » 17 Feb 2013, 19:43

Hello! I had a fissurectomy 2 weeks ago and I was healing just fine, but now it's burning. I had used A&D ointment to soften up the stitches but now I'm afraid that it might have softened them up too much. The site where the stitches were is like a red ring with pink tissue inside of it. Has anyone experienced this with their recovery? I stopped using the A&D and applied witch hazel with gauze to make sure it stays dry and doesn't get infected.
I will call my docor tomorrow, but it would be nice to hear from someone online sooner! Image

That sounds like it might be infected. I hope everything was OK when you got it checked out today.

I think it's just a stage of healing. I went to work and I was okay and it's actually started to itch a little again which means the healing continues! It was just using the A&D ointment that inhibited the natural healing process.
There are no signs of infection. I'm keeping it dry and clean and it felt better today.

3 weeks post op and the itching has subsided. All seems to be healing just fine. There is a slight soreness, but it's not painful. My bathroom trips are going well and I no longer need sitz baths! I can now look forward to enjoying the bathtub again for relaxation instead of a form of medication! Image

Hey, Jessjess is great to know that your road to recovery is still going smooth with just minus and expected side effects.
Very soon you will be good enough to forget that you even had a fissure. :D
