Hi jess, that's positive to hear that you got seen in a week but its rubbish that you have to fight like that to get them to understand just how much pain your in.
My husband has wanted to take me to A & E a fee times but I was always concerned about this I've read in other people's posts that they just get sent home. Then I was worried if in the event that they did the surgery then it may be done by a general surgeon and I know from everyone's advice the importance of a specialist.
Jess your symptoms pre surgery sound similar to mine. Do you mind if I ask do you think that skin tag was pulling on the tears during a bm? A big tag has replaced what was once just smooth perenium and then there are 2 tears either side, I can feel most of the pain on this tag and the front of the bum (12 position)
Also, a general point when I discussed with a friend who had tearing from a birth. She couldn't understand that they don't treat it quickly given that if you tear from a birth then your stitched there and then and yet with these tears there not stitched? I knew things were bad from the pain and washing but I took a picture before my last doctors appointment, and I was horrified. And although right now all I want is for the pain to stop it is upsetting that one day it looks normal and the next I'm left looking pretty deformed.

Yes that is what I've heard about going to the emergency room is that they just refer you to a specialist so it's really just a pain management waiting game. You might want to call every morning to check on cancellations. This calls for the old cliche "Actions speak louder than words".
I found that sitting or even laying on my side caused pain so I ended up laying on my belly or standing for most of the day. This was after the sentinel tag formed that I could no longer sit without pain.
I've never had children, and I can imagine being ripped open like that. I have heard about it, and sometimes the repair to the torn tissue can be "incomplete" and they have to go back in and fix it properly. Again, a specialist, not a general surgeon.
So your best bet is to just keep calling and tell them how much pain you are in. If they know you well, you will be their first consideration if a time slot opens up!
So sorry for your pain and I will be praying for you!

Thanks jess, I know what you mean about lying as I've spent most of the time of my stomach too! I'm feeling a better now as it seems that the third course of anti biotics seems to have got the infection under control and the swelling of the skin tag is going down, thank goodness!
That's a good idea with calling for cancellations as my appointment is 4 weeks away. Luckily I have the support of a very understanding gp who thinks 4 weeks is too long.
Hope your recovery is going well!
