Yes when I saw blood in toilet a couple months ago I thought I was dying or something lol.
Crs is a butt surgeon. My doctor referred me to gi specialist, but I called a crs and he said to cancel with gi and that gi docs don't know fissures. Crs are the ones that do the surgery on fissures.benefiber is like Metamucil but it doesn't cause as much bulk as Metamucil. Miralax isn't absorbed by your body like benefiber is, so miralax draws water into your poop even while its in your colon.crs told me to take full dose of miralax morning and again at night and to continue with Metamucil or benefiber too. I only take miralax though because I eat soft high fiber diet. That's also why I lost 20 pounds lol.

Hi, Jema, sorry to hear that you have your fissure for two years now, when fissures are that long they are chronic, mine is chronic so the only thing we got left is to try and control the fissure so it doesn't control us.
Fiber is good, but too much fiber can make the stools bulky for some and that will add more pressure to the anal muscle and cause re tears of the fissure.
Chronic fissures can get better with proper care, enough lubrication (vaseline) before a BM to avoid too much friction.
Stools are very irritating to an open fissure.
Sitz bath to cleanse and relive pain with warm warter, then any cream that your doctor would have prescribed.
I see that you already done all that or most of it. Proper management is the only thing we got and the willingness to take the pain and suffering and how much.
I have not read in your post if you have a CRS doctor that you visit I suggest you get one to work with.
Too tell the truth I have suffered on and off with my fissure, but it wasn't until 8 months ago that it go so bad that I had to see a doctor and get a proper diagnostic. I commitment made that if I go back to day 1 with mine again I would have surgery no questions ask.
But for now beside minor set back I am in control.
Hopefully you will find a way to control your pain and suffering.

I agree with marg6043. You need a crs to talk to. I can't wait to talk to mine! This forum is awesome for support and full of people that understand what fissure spasms feel like...
I have learned a lot on here over last couple months and I have tried a lot including putting coconut oil and stuff in my butt lol. The most important things that I have learned is miralax is my best friend, squat to poop, really warm bath for spasms,if you can't jump in shower after poop then wet toilet paper with warm water first then hold it against butt, don't eat meats except a little fish once a week.everyone has different cures, but those are the ones that I found to help me the most. My butt had a pretty good day today, which means no blood or major spasms. It did feel like some one poking my butt hole with a dull knife whenever I moved much or tried to sit though.

You are very welcome to the forum, and there are many here willing to help and offer advice. We hope that you are not in too much pain from this.
Please take the time to do a search on whatever you might be worrying about, as there is more than likely to someone who has experienced the same. The Search facility is up above on the right hand side and is very useful.
You mentioned that your medication is being compounded, so it could be Glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) which is usually the first line of treatment, though it could be Diltiazem or Nifedipine. Do come back and tell us which one it is. There is a lot of information on all of those on the forum from others who have used them. It really depends on how long you have had your fissure as to whether these work – the shorter the time period, the better. Having only had the fissure for a month is a good thing, so to speak, as your fissure is still acute and not chronic, and so there is a better chance of it healing with the medication.
Any questions, just ask. We are here to help. Image
All the best,
Sav

The advice is great & appreciated! I have not seen a CRS as of yet...went to a GI specialist but that was 2 yrs ago...I am sure my AF is much worse now. I was taking a compound med as well...Nitro/ Lido/Cort...but doesnt work much now. Nothing really works....
Although I did start with Metamucil as I said in prev post. I do not like the Bulk of that... I am thinking of switching to Benefiber...
Does anyone know if that is ok to just switch? I do not take Miralax but after reading a lot of the posts it seems I should add that in my diet as well.
I feel so ignorant with all this even though I have been suffering for 2 yrs +...
