Well, that's that then. It turns out I'm allergic/oversensitive to every last cream that western medicine has for this problem. The nifedipine started creating a bad reaction this weekend. Herbs acupuncture and diets just haven't done enough to get me over the hump of healing. (Although I've been enjoying the pecans very much! They really do improve my poo quality!)
I'm scheduled for surgery on Thursday. There's no reason that I'm a hard case, so I hope this will go smoothly.
I'm totally freaking out. This will be my first time ever in a hospital or in surgery.

Please don't freak out. I had mine yesterday and was Freaking really badly on Sunday and also when I first got to the hospital yesterday, but I am so glad that I did it.
The signs so far are really good and that can only be positive. Everyone reacts differently and so I can't say how you will react or anyone reacts but I really do think that the surgery is worth it.
None of the creams had helped me either.

coconut.. no need to be worried. I have had three minor surgeries in my life (and LIS is minor). Each time I have been treated very well and all my needs were met before releasing me. Just be kind to your rear end after surgery and follow your CRS's instructions for home care. Sitz baths are wonderful for discomfort relief and to promote healing!
Don't see it as you surrendering to the knife. See it more like the final surrender of your fissure!

Based on my experience, LIS (and post-LIS) is a breeze. You will back to normal before you know it and wondering why you waited so long. Good luck!

From what I hear on these boards, LIS is a breeze, but they need to take the skin tag and cut the actual fissure site, too, and that is more of a big deal, pain wise.
I keep telling myself that I've had a cut on my butt for 6 months, so putting another cut down there is hardly a change. That helps a little.

I have my surgery Thursday too. I surrendered during my doc visit on Monday. Betcha a coca cola classic we end up fine and racing to see who can brag first on these forums!
