HELP!!!

Postby val » 03 Dec 2007, 10:50

I've been on antibiotics since friday for an abcess-just now I had a lot of bleeding for no reason whatsoever. Is this normal for an abcess to do that, or is it a symptom of something else?
Thanks,
Val :(

Gosh, Val...I really can't answer that as I have had no experience with an abscess down there. It could indeed be the abscess bleeding, but whether that is bad or not I simply can't say.
I know I could call my doctor here if I were in your straits...and they could advise me on whether an office visit was needed..could you call their office and let them know what is going on (they may already be closed there, though, today!)?
How much is "a lot" of bleeding?

I've just made an appointment for about an hours time with the GP, I hope its a different one from the useless one I saw the other night!
I 'm totally freaked out by blood and nearly fainted when I saw it, you'd think I'd be used to it after the fissure, but I only bled from the fissure after going to the loo, it was a shock to just bleed!

Well, if it just bled on it's own, it must be the abscess. I am glad you are going to have it seen about. I know what you mean, blood is scary! Try not to faint, now!!
Wow, you are really having a time with that thing!
So you can see your GPs at night?

Its only 5 40pm here in the UK! They're open til 6pm then we have emergency doctors, but to be honest they're all bloody useless ! All of you on the forum are much more helpful and knowledgable!

I am glad you feel that way, Val, but none of use are trained medical personnel, anything we say is simply our thoughts on whatever the subject is at hand.
But I have found, to my astonishment, that WAY too many doctors seem to be woefully under informed and severely lacking in both empathy and knowledge when it comes to AF....

I hope you are okay. Maybe the infection is working its way out?

I am sorry you have had such an awful week. Let us know what the doctor says. I will pray you get a good one.

Thank you so much! You're too modest Kim, you DO all know more than the doctors here. I've got good news about it though- I saw a really nice nurse who actually knew about fissures ect., and she told me I had a hole where it was and that hopefully that was the end of it and that all that blood was behind the abcess , and that like you say Lecia, the infection worked its way out. I'm SOOO relieved. So now I know about abcesses too!
Thanks for your concern, I'm sorry that every time something new happens I scream for help!

Well, I think it is good to post so others who have something like this can get help from your experience! Glad it is draining nicely and you had a nice nurse who understood about fissures.
