Re: Botox

I'm great today thanks Rachael!
I applied a small amount (<1cm) of Nitro before this mornings BM and I've been pain free! Slight pressure before I applied the rest of the Nitro at 10am, but nothing sore.
I'll let you know what my CRS says about Botox but I think if my fissure doesn't heal I'm going to go down that route you know. My worry with LIS is that cutting the muscle may affect me when I'm a pensioner!

Good news, let us know how you get on.
Ask the CRS about diet and lubricating if you can, will be interesting to see what he says. Are you private or NHS?!
I gonna rack up a debt on the credit card, to do LIS if I don't heal on the Botox.... I just cannot face the prospect of dealing with Fissures for another year! Image

I'm private but no insurance. Last consultation was Ј175 - this one should be less they say.
My CRS wasn't keen on anything other than following a good diet and the Nitro as I asked him last time. He didn't even want to disturb the fissure so didn't poke around any more than he had to.
I know people use lidocaine products etc but I have read they thin your skin, which is the last thing you need on skin which is trying to heal.
If you do think of anything else let me know and I'll ask for you :)

He said to avoid anything that affected my IBS basically. That doesn't leave me with much choice. You could have turkey mince in the spag bol. Very healthy and I actually prefer this to beef now (although not tried any whilst I've had the fissure).
I'll report back on this thread all about the Botox treatment as I have written down loads of questions to ask.

I had Botox on Monday. Had been in extreme pain, was in the ER and had to have 2 shots of dilauded to stop pain last Wednesday. Long story short, monday he did Botox. I got 4 shots.. Was totally put under. I don't remember anything. He also cauterized my fissure which I believe helped immensely. Had 3 BM today, no pain. Still taking it easy as I am afraid of the pain coming back. But I am almost 72 hrs post op and its the best thing I have ever done.

Wantmylifeback, I have a question for you! What exactly is involved in the fissure being cauterized? Way back when I first was told I had a fissure, my family doctor referred me to the CRS and said he would likely cauterize the fissure. I have seen 3 different CRS's at this point and no one has suggested this as a treatment option. The only thing that has been suggested for me is the creams, botox, and fissurectomy (which is too scary for me to consider MORE cutting/ripping). All of my doctors said no to LIS because I am a young female and they have seen problems with continence later in life (after having babies) with people who had LIS earlier. Anyway, just wondering what it is... I've read about two kinds chemical and something else. What did they do? What did they tell you about it? Thanks!
