Just wanted to update everyone regarding my recover post surgery.
Today is day 3 post surgery, had my first BM this morning(did have a couple of loose BM's the day of surgery) but this was the first bulk BM. Did hurt a bit but it was from the fissure site. Had to spend a lot of time cleaning using the shower head and a sitz bath... Felt a little pain later but as the day progressed feeling better. The only discomfort is from the sutures that kinda seem to be pricking me, especially while walking and sitting. I've not taken Percocet today and just stuck to ibuprofen to reduce my swelling.
Even though its only day 3 I seem to be under the impression that I'm healing. The pain has been bearable and certainly not like pre-op pain. I haven't been taking sitz baths unless and otherwise I have a BM, still a little nervous about BM's... Hopefully I'm getting better...
Anyone out there thinking about surgery, I would say get it done. It's sure will help..
Will keep posting with updates....

Thanks Everyone for the kind support...
Here's another update... Today is day 5 post surgery, things have been pretty much the same since day3, i dint have any BM on day4 and was a little worried but had a BM this morning, was not very painful but it did hurt in the fissure site. I noticed blood while cleaning but hoping there;s no much to worry. Cleaned myself using the shower head and feeling good so far. I'm working from home this week and luckily dont have to sit for long hours. I havent used any gauze pads today but was using them the last few days. I did notice blood in the pads the last couple of days. I havent had any pain meds since the last 3 days, the only thing that bothers me most of the time is the sutures. The put in sutures are 3 different places(Fissure site, skin tag and LIS site) so u can understand how bothersome they are.
Does anyone know how long they would take to dissolve ?? Also can I apply any cream on the suture site? The CRS had asked me not to apply anything but wanted to know if anyone else did.
Still keeping a positive mindset that I'm moving along the right course and I'm healing... If anyone has any questions regd the surgery please feel free to ask and I'll like to help answering them.

Hello, I am a 44 year old active, in shape, healthy woman. I was first diagnosed with a fissure when I was 19, let it go didn't have any warning or instruction at that time as to what could happen in the future. Went to CRS again in late 20's Doc said yes fissure you can use nitroglycerin, seemed to keep it at bay, went again 8 years ago same Doc said surgery or try to live with it. Always dealt with constipation and stomach issues along the way, sometimes really bad associated with stress.
Sooooo, now at 44 had a major episode, could not leave home for a week, cried of pain. Went to general doc, they said it was hemmoroids, to do sitz baths, use proctosol...went back 8 days later no change, I knew it was a fissure and a skin tag, that's why soooo important to see a specialist. Went to specialist after waiting for insurance approval (same doc as last 2 times) he barely had to examine me and said you gotta have surgery or live like this. My pain was at a 9 for sure so no choice. I was scared to death of the anesthesia(have never been put under) and the total unknown of what it would be like to have surgery down there lord!
I had a fissurectomy, lis, large skin tag and hemroids removed with some dissobable stiches
16 days post op wow every day gets better. 1st night/day did not sleep too much pain, Percocet only worked for like 2 hours pain came back. Had spasms for 2 days, like I was trying to push a watermelon out freaky. That stopped then just painful bm's day 3 used 2 advil every 4 hours stopped percoset in case of constipation. I never had a problem going whichwas good. Always felt like I had to have a bm but would sit andnothing. Doc. said any rectal surgery your brain thinks you have to go more. first week and a half post op. woke up around 2am with pressure felt like had to have bm, but nothing would take 2 advil back to sleep, then that stopped.
Have passing of gas but can control it, still wearing kotex pads little discharge, has gotten much less and odor is dissipating as well. I still have swelling where the skin tag was. A string popped out of my butt, which I clipped off, doc said ok normal and looks like still some stiches are there I try not to obsess and look to much:)
This forum helped me so much and I appreciated hearing details from people who have had it done so if I can answer any questions please let me know, happy to help

After 3 weeks (Sorry not to have posted any updates inbetween), I'm still where I was after the surgery, or if not a little worse. The first week I did feel very encouraged with the healing process, week 2 did go well until the 3rd week. I had my post op follow up last Tuesday, the doctor took a good look at it and said the fissure site was still healing but the lis and skin tag looked good. The stitches had dissolved but the fissure site was still not closed. I started experiencing some pain and discomfort after the doctors appointment. When I looked at it in the evening I noticed a lump(a hard one), assumed it must be a hemorrhoid but I've never had it before.
The lump doesnt seemed to have reduced at all even after a week of sitz bath twice daily. It's still hard and almost the size of a kidney bean. Wonder what it is. Also notice blood while cleaning up and irritation after every BM. I'm now scared the fissure is coming back to haunt me again. I scheduled the follow up for tomorrow and hope the doctor can diagnose what the issue is.
Continuing my dose of Metamucil everyday and regular BM's, I'm going to stay positive and hope for a speedy recovery from my set back.
If anyone else experienced such a lump right at the anal site(sorry TMI) please let me know what the issue was and how you were able to get rid of it.

venki sorry to hear that you have developed something beside the fissure, I am not going to speculate much but it sounds like an abscess, hopefully your app tomorrow will tell exactly what is going on.
This things happens so is just part of the healing process.
Hope tomorrow you feel better.

Hi Venki,
I had a swollen area (very pink) like a lump with what looked like a tiny open wound little bit of blood that would tingle if wet, but was a sign of healing. It was not a growth or anything I could tell it was part of the surgical area. The doc told me at my 1 week post op appt. it should be down in 30 days or to see him again. It went down on week 4 post op, so it took 4 weeks. and my butt looks almost normal I am 5 weeks post op now. Not sure if this helps but btw, Nothing is TMI on this forum :D
